I do not appreciate Bono's comments in the New York Times

Recommended Posts

i think freedom of speech is important to! but like freedom in every way, your right stops there where you take away the rights of others! or where your freedom to speak insults and hurts others!

and if this works both ways, then paigecat shouldn't be upset with Bono's comments; cause it's his right to speak his mind too...

Got that right, I have stuck around! I'm not going to let liberals on a forum scare me off by cyber bullying. I find that funny if you don't agree with someone about an issue then you are prejudiced. If that's the case we all are prejudiced. I just know it kills liberals to hear of opinions that are opposite of them. Majority of the media is liberal biased and yet they still aren't satisfied and wants everyone to think like drones. If your not politically correct then you are slapped with all kinds of slander and prejudices. It is ok to be diversified unless you are a Christian conservative then you are labeled a hater of everything. If anyone knows anything about Christianity it is about love and kindness. The Lord says never to hate anyone that it is a sin and I do not hate anybody. You can dislike an opinion or idea but to claim hate is wrong and is a sin. Christ tells us to love. I have a gay cousin, I do not agree with her choice of lifestyle but I do not ostracize her and hate her. I love her and will always love her. I care for her deeply and I've been over to her house . So, don't judge me, and think I'm a bad person, none of you know me nor do you know what I've been through in life.

Paige

I'm a Christian. Devote. I voted for Obama.

Is it cyber-bullying to point out your hypocricy and half-truths? Sorry, you seem very arrogant and misinformed -- and quick to play the victim. Unless I missed the posts where you came on this forum and railed against GW Bush lying us into war without a way to pay for it. That's is where $1 trillion of that debt came from before Obama even walked into the Oval Office. Fact. Bush never got up at 3 a.m. to meet the returning soldiers  as he contemplated war decsions. Obama did this week. Fact. If I missed those posts, I apologize.

Your use of the "death panels" argument, which has been abandoned by everyone on the right except you as false propaganda (yes, even Sarah Palin it was silly talk), demonstrates your inability to come to terms with reality.

Bottom line it's about our government taking over our healthcare system and destroying the private sector to gain full control over every aspect of your life. They are controlling the media and portraying our healthcare system as the worst in the world. They are lying about our healthcare system and also teaching young children to lie about it also in propaganda commercials. Yes our system has flaws and and cost needs to be controlled but if you think that 1200 page pile of shit they are about to shove down our throats is a good plan your a loon. Socailized healthcare will be this countrys biggest mistake. But you progressives already know that. You want our country to go bankrupt so you can completely change our system.

why do you think it would be bad? so many countries  (like mine) have a healthcaresystem controlled by the goverment..maybe you' re the one that's informed wrong? you make it sound like a conspiracy to take away your money?

Well, there are 4 great examples: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and Welfare. All run by the government. All are broke. They all need massive amounts of money to continue and Medicare has been found to refuse more healthcare to more people than any other health plan.

A conspiracy to take away my money? Not necessarily my money but yes it is all about the redistribution of wealth.

Death Panels are back into the health plan that Nancy Pelosi supports and it is her health plan 1990 pages of this health plan and it's not part of the final bill. I am not misinformed I am hearing this on Fox news on Hannity by not just Hannity but a U.S. congresswoman from Minnesota. This will take over 18% of our private sector economy. In this plan which isn't even the final bill on  page 92 you will not have an option to by private health care until after a certain date. There will be significant tax increases on the middle class. You will be forced to take this health care plan whether you like it or not. In this bill, if you get a pace maker, knee replacement, and this is a drop in the bucket, you the person who receives this, will be taxed on the pace maker or knee replace, or hearing aides. You need one you will get taxed for it. You are misinformed. The government has already over taken 30% of our private sector businesses and with the additional 18% will make 48% of our private sector will be controlled by our government and  by the way to force people to take health care is unconstitutional. All of this I heard tonight on the news. Have you even thought of all the people that work for these private insurance companies (1700 companies) will be losing their jobs as their company fails. Think about it. There will be private insurance companies that can't compete with a public option and it drives them out of business their employees will be out of a job and the unemployment rate in this country will go up. I'm angry at this happening and I'm angry that so many people don't care. Bush is just as bad as Obama in my opinion. I don't like him and I think he was a total liar as well. I think most in Washington are liars. They are too busy recognizing agendas and not doing things for the people. It's wrong. Well there was one good justice done today. A man, along with his brother, committed an atrocious crime against humanity in my city. In 2007 they carjacked a car that a young couple were driving and took this couple back to their house killed the young man and kept the young woman for two days in a room locked up raped her in every way possible, put a glass bottle up in her and stomped on her stomach until it shattered in her. Then he and his brother put her alive in a trash can where she suffocated to death and then after she was dead he continued to mutilate her body and today Tennessee gave him the death penalty which is nothing compared to what he did to this young woman and man. The young man was shot and this girl went through all of this torture before she died she was an innocent victim and so was her boyfriend. They were driving home from spending time with some friends and where they carjacked them wasn't even near where they lived the murderers. Could you imagine if that were your child that goes through that and how you would feel sometimes I wonder what has this world become it brings tears to my eyes. How someone can be so dead inside and feel nothing at snuffing out a human life, no parent thinks or wants to out live their child because loving parents love their child more than the child loves them, that's what my mother tells me. The younger brother got life in prison because he went along with the older brother that instigated these acts. I know these things go on all over. It's sad. There is good in this world it's unfortunate that the bad is printed the most cause sensationalism sells. Well, anyway, have a good one.

I would have to find out details from my neighbor, it is her best friend who is a vet tech. She doesn't have insurance through the business even though the vet that owns the business is swimming in money and could afford to provide it for her and her other colleague. She is going to have to have surgery and the kind of insurance she has is somehow a gov. program I think. She has to go to a social worker and for her surgery there is a list of doctors that would do this for her. Before she saw the social worker she went through something else and they gave her the run around. I'll have to find out details for it. I'll let you know when I ask her more details. I know we have Tenn Care which was rebuked later and there are some who still have it but not to the amount before. My state is broke right now, so, I don't know if that was part of the reason for disbanding it or not.

Oh so trolls can read? And Fox News nonetheless!?!?! You must be very proud of yourself!

Lets hear it for Paige folks! She can READ! Even Fox News, which puts the reading level at around 5th grade.

While were on the subject of folks who like Fox News, and since they're linked at the hip, lets hear it for all the paranoids!

uh oh paige.....

I hear the socialized (you don't even know the correct definition) medicine moving closer! And pointing out facts is now "bullying?"

To quote Roger Waters, you'de better "RUN LIKE FUCK!" before it gets here!

Hahaha! A round for all the paranoids!

And don't even get me started on Bob "Its okay to kill abortion doctors" L. I love you guys, and you're such Christians! With your beliefs you'll be going down to Georgie's level in the after-life if what you believe in is true.

BTW Bob, are you related to James Von Brunn?

Come on Paige! Enjoy yourself! Have a good time! Unknowing that private health insurance companies give much more of a "run-around" than Medicare. I mean, I kinda know. I have a parent with kidney failure, who dealt with Cigna and United Health for 2 years before Medicare kicked in. And you know what? Yeah, Medicare never denies coverage for DIALYSIS. Oh maybe some day you'll find out Paige.

No what you are not understanding here is that it does not matter if it is discriminatory or not i was pointing out the fact that at least Paigecat has hung around and stuck up for themself instead of running away and hiding.

okay i get your point, but is that honourable? here in belgium we've got a political party with rather discriminating, anti-immigrant ideas; they're standing up for their believe too! but i for sure dont admire them for doing so!

there are even people out there denying the holocaust ever happened; hey, they even say it in the paper, in talkshows,.. doesn't make them hero's in my eyes...
frown.gif

yes it is honourable in this day and age to do so.

lets face it all over the world and especially in this website there are people who go on about peoples right to freedom of speech but as soon as someone puts something they don't agree with then people try to take that right away from them.

last week in the U.K was a prime excample when the leader of the BNP was invited onto a political discussion forum and people protested.....no doubt these would be the same people who would jump up and down because someone elses freedom of speech was taken away yes you can speak freely but only if you say what we want you to say......these people can just piss off as far as i am concerned you can't have it both ways.

at the end of the day if people want to air thier views on anything they should be allowed to and if people don't agree then just stop reading/listening to them simple as that i mean all this fuss because someone states they are sick of Bono poking his nose in to their country.......fair enough i say.

But see Basher, during the Bush years these people (the Neo-Cons and Fox News undulators like Paige) tried to shut up the Liberals on the ground that criticizing a war-time president was "UNAMERICAN!" and "TREASON!" Now we have another war-time president (which was inherited and for false reasons, but you know that cause you're fucking smart) and wow! Hes not talking about Jesus telling him to bomb countries (thus killing innocents) and hes not 100% white and lacking a southern accent. But even though hes another "War-time" prez. they don't hold themselves to the same rule they so steadfastly wanted the Liberals to hold to so we would shut up.  Then again, I guess if you're a Fox News/Bush/"I don't know the true definition of Socialism/Communism but I use it anyways and insult those who lived under a Communist regime" its okay to kill babies the second their out of the womb by bombing hospitals and homes in Iraq....but if they're in the USA and in the womb...then hell no!

On Obama...  "Hes smart?!?!?! He didn't pass college with a "C" average like George? But we liked that! We're dumb so we liked our dumb president!"

Nothing freaks out the Neo-Cons (who do have a deep seated racism, I lived around them for 26 years) more than an educated minority. That minority can be black/mexican/indian/gay/lesbian/transgendered/liberal(in the Neo-Con areas of the south),female,or just anyone who doesn't fit their own mold.

Oh and Basher, if they find out you went to a dreaded thing called "college" (which they consider a Liberal indoctrination center, its only okay if its some crappy southern/private fundamentalist school), they immediately feel inadequate and say you've been "INDOCTRINATED" at a school! A School where you actually learn about an amendment besides the second, and you also learn that Thomas Jefferson edited Jesus and the supernatural out of the Bible (even though they use the "Founding fathers were CHRISTUHNS" thing).

For the record, when I speak about Christians in this way, its not ALL of them (hell, I am one), just that 10% lunatic fringe which every religion has. In fact the religious nuts should all just get an island somewhere, we can charge money to view and use it to fund healthcare for all. I can see Paige and Bob now, trying to start a fire using their tinfoil hats and glasses.

Wish they would just remove the moronic original post. Wow. What a piece of work.

Personally, I thank God that Obama won the election. He is doing a decent job given the train wreck that was handed to him after 8 years of economic chaos and blood shed in wars that were waged on lies. She says "In Christ," yet the hypocrite bears false witness with a lie that Obama has racked up more debt than all presidents combined. She either doesn't know her history or gets all of her talking points from FOX News. Darling, don't forget that George W. Bush was left a budget surplus by Clinton. It was Bush who has waged a trillion dollar war in Iraq that the next generation will have to pay for -- and for what?

In Christ.

Whoo Hoo, I'm a piece of work, haha. And a hypocrite because I didn't mention to you Bush. He is a lying politician just like the rest of them. Bush had alot do with our problems and Obama is just continuing them with an out of control deficit. Our currency has dropped 16% in the past several months and yes, darling that was on Hannity. If you have problems with that contact Shawn Hannity. I guess you get all your points from CNN? Yes, I do know that Clinton had a surplus, I am 38 years old and been on this earth since 1971. I've been able to legally vote since 1989, and I know some of you, maybe even newsman were born around that time. Makes me feel old, haha, that I'm probably old enough to have a child that is some young folks age on here. If your around my age or older then you know that this is typical of politicians and their lying. Clinton lied, both Bushes lied. If your in your 20's well then your just wet behind the ears and a just a baby. I have no clue how old  you are so tell me. Did you live through the age of communism or age of computers and cell phones. It's funny to think that so many young people haven't any clue what it was like before home computers and cell phones and the funny thing is 20 years down the road when they are middle aged there will be a new group of young whipper snappers that are living with better technology that will think their parents are out of touch with the world. That's the way it is. Oh, just think Bono's going to turn 50 in May 2010. And he's only 11 years older than me, yikes I'm getting old too, haha. I wonder if he dyes his hair. Usually most men that still have their hair at that age are really going gray. My brother is and he is 35. He started when he was 19. Like Steve Martin.

I don't know much about politics, but I do know one thing; Everything is completely messed up and everyone's just pointing fingers.

So excuse me but I'll take care of the things that really matter, I suggest that you people do the same instead of spenig hours in front of the computer.

They are going to cut 500 billion dollars from Medicare, you want that? Well, you'll get it if health care goes through. Let's hear it for prksoda, a know it all, why don't you run for office since you know so much? And I never said that you never get the run around with private insurance I know you do. They've done it to me. I never said that private insurance doesn't have problems it does but I'd rather have that than a whole governmental system that will tax you for receiving a pace maker which is one example, why don't you ask your congressman for the 1990 page copy of the health care plan and why don't you read through it word for word and then you can offer Washington suggestions since you know SO MUCH and are so much smarter than everyone else.

Now I know you're a troll. Full points for persistence though. The whole "death panels" nonsense has been comprehensively debunked as just another neo-con terror tactic. The only real 'death panel' are the insurance companies denying care and raking in the profits.

Your 'healthcare' system kills 44 000 uninsured people per year. Nothing you say, no slander or hysteria or racist scare-mongering makes that okay.

As an European I believe that Bono is sometimes obsessed with the US. His remarks during songs on the US milatary are sometimes annoying. He fully believes in the US way of thinking, same as I do, but perhaps he should also be a bit more reserved with his political remarks. Especially on topics like Iraq and Afghanistan. He should try to be more objective especially when being in the US. But that might be just my own opinion. However, in the end, he is entitled to his own opinion and by expressing it, he makes himself vulnerable to critism. And frankly, I believe he doesnot care what mine or your opinion is. And with his campaigns, he has been quite succesfull. So keep it up, speak up with your own voice!

Standing up to a discriminatory idea doesn´t make you brave, it makes you prejudiced.

No what you are not understanding here is that it does not matter if it is discriminatory or not i was pointing out the fact that at least Paigecat has hung around and stuck up for themself instead of running away and hiding.

okay i get your point, but is that honourable? here in belgium we've got a political party with rather discriminating, anti-immigrant ideas; they're standing up for their believe too! but i for sure dont admire them for doing so!

there are even people out there denying the holocaust ever happened; hey, they even say it in the paper, in talkshows,.. doesn't make them hero's in my eyes...

yes it is honourable in this day and age to do so.

lets face it all over the world and especially in this website there are people who go on about peoples right to freedom of speech but as soon as someone puts something they don't agree with then people try to take that right away from them.

last week in the U.K was a prime excample when the leader of the BNP was invited onto a political discussion forum and people protested.....no doubt these would be the same people who would jump up and down because someone elses freedom of speech was taken away yes you can speak freely but only if you say what we want you to say......these people can just piss off as far as i am concerned you can't have it both ways.

at the end of the day if people want to air thier views on anything they should be allowed to and if people don't agree then just stop reading/listening to them simple as that i mean all this fuss because someone states they are sick of Bono poking his nose in to their country.......fair enough i say.

These are the rantings of a TRULY deranged person. You need serious help prksoda. Call your doctor as soon as you can. Seriously, I've never seen anything like this in my life. Every vowel of every word you type is utterly wrong. Your stereotyping and false accusations of people shows how unintelligent you really are. Get an education because it shows that you clearly do not have one.
