Rumour About New Tour

Recommended Posts

Not one to be moved by (or start rumors) BUT I had heard this (or more something close to this) in Dec from a very good source but like most things I hear I never really gave it a second thought (well not all of it)

During a conversation I was told an idea had come up about them doing something like ''3'' shows in Dublin & wherever other cities BUT doing them as ''3'' different shows as in the first being in a small venue then a medium sized place then a stadium show - I was told they got the idea from the Rolling Stones who done something like this previously (I Did not know that) It was only when I seen this new ''Rumor'' that I thought it sounded (kind of) the same...

It's a great idea (IF TRUE) and would certainly be amaZing to catch them in a smaller capacity ie Vicar St OR The Olympia in Dublin..

Anyhow - As I said Im not one for rumors but thought I'd add my bit of information...

So, Let the rumors begin / eXpand

Years ago I saw Mary Black in The Olympia, but that venue is far too small for a U2 concert.

During the Joshua Tree tour U2 played in Foret National (Brussels), with a capacity of only 8.000 to 9.000 people. The hunt for tickets was horrible. Not to be repeated if you ask me.

Something I wouldn't be looking forward to (if it were to happen) is the madness getting tickets but on the other hand I would love to see them in an intimate venue like Vicar St / Olympia

The only solution seems to be a private concert for a few hundred selected fans. :-) :)

I hope this is just what it is...a rumor.  I HATE, HATE, HATE this idea.  Makes me sick to think about it.  And can Bono's voice handle 6 nights in a row?

It is important. 6 nights in a row would probably put a strain on Bono - he's getting on a bit and his voice isn't what it used to be. 6 nights in a row is hardly going to do it any good.

But that said, if it was 6 nights in 6 cities, why would they have to be consecutive.

I'm not too sure whether this '6 nights in 6 cities' thing is a good idea either. I mean, to put it bluntly...what's the point? Why do 6 different-sized gigs in 6 cities and then do the world tour the year after? Why not just include said 6 cities in the world tour?

maybe they are trying to create "exclusivity"...watch us run and clamor over the few available tickets to the exclusive 6 shows!

I mean, if japan isnt in it again.....what are the "chosen 6" gonna be?

I hate this b/c of where I live.  I know that the 6 cities would be no where near where I live.  No where.......

Ok, I still think this rumour is crap but let's dream. If you were going to pick six cities to debut the music in, where would you strategically choose to go? i'm going to pick countries/continents first but in no particular order

Japan- show a litle love for them after hard times and they were missed on the last tour

Burma- how can they not go to Burma now? That would be awesome

South Africa- Didn't they kind of love that show last time around?

South America- Adam seems enthralled with that region and did't Bono take his family there recently too?

Australia- because you can't skip out if you're over in Asia already

Dublin - they need to show the home crowd a little love

About South America...

Adam has coming a lot to Brazil. Since last year, as far as I know, about 4 or 5 times because he´s dating with a brazilian girl.

And he also said in the book U2 From The Ground Up that the concerts in South America were the best for him.

Just to be clear, Bono spent some days of vacation in Costa Rica, which is in Central America.

I really cannot see them doing 6 shows on the bounce. Bono couldn't do it and hasn't been able to for years.

Maybe two break two break two

My guess for the 6 city's

Dublin

São Paulo

New York

Sydney

Tokyo

Cape Town

How would this 6 cities thing work in the England?

What was the last time they played 6 cities in England alone?

As I said somewhere before, this sounds like a promo tour to me. Not 36 concerts, but one concert in each city, maybe? (And it could  be: Miami, New Orleans, London, Belfast and Berlin --- oh, nevermind, that's 5 )

Not since the War tour, and they were a lot smaller back then.

Errm 6 giggs in 6 cities

I think it would be as it says  6 giggs in 6 cities 1 in each

I would guess at North America  South America 1 in the Far East  Australia they would have to do Dublin after missing it on the 2nd leg of the 360 tour and maybe 1 more in Europe somewhere

But they would have to be pretty massive open air giggs to cope with demand

Would be interesting to see how it works followed with a full world tour
