A Thousand Times Goodnight (Larry Mullen) Wins Special Grand Prix At Montreal Film Festival

A Thousand Times Good Night won the Special Grand Prix of the Jury at the 37th Montreal World Film Festival, which ended on the 2nd of September. The Ecumenical Jury gave it a Special Mention.

 

Directed by Erik Poppe and starring French actress Juliette Binoche, A Thousand Times Good Night follows a famous woman war photographer, Rebekka, who is seriously wounded when following a suicide bomber in Kabul; when she returns home she is met by an ultimatum - job or family.  

 

The world premiere on Saturday the 31st of August was received by standing applause from the 1,500 audience, and the following screenings were sold out. "The Montreal grand prix is a prestigious prize in the world of cinema - it certainly highlights Norwegian film, this particular feature and Poppe," said head of international relations; feature films Stine Oppegaard, of the Norwegian Film Institute.

 

Produced by Finn Gjerdrum and Stein B Kvae for Paradox and scripted by Harald Rosenløw Eeg, A Thousand Times Goodnight stars Irish actors Maria Doyle Kennedy, Lauryn Canny, Larry Mullen Jr (U2), Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Norwegian actor Mads Ousdal.

 

Co-produced by Ireland's Newgrange Pictures and Zentropa International Sweden, the film which was mainly shot in Dublin and Morocco, will be domestically released on 18 October by Euforia.

"A Thousand Times Good Night won the Special Grand Prix of the Jury at the 37th Montreal World Film Festival, which ended on the 2nd of September."  No freakin' way! I'm not saying I can't believe it could win - I'm saying "That's 100% Awesome."  As usual, I'm sure I'm not the only one who owes the learning of something like this to Febottini. Thanks much for it.

Sorry, I was sick I couldn’t ´t post yesterday. For those who don´t know what happened... On the last Wednesday there was a premiere of the film “A Thousand Times Goodnight” in Oslo, Norway.

ROCK star Larry Mullen Jr is about to see his name in lights across America as an actor.

 

 

Makers of the drama, starring Juliette Binoche in the lead role, have also signed deals to release the production in Japan, Australia, Denmark, Finland, Turkey and Latin America.The U2 drummer's movie, A Thousand Times Goodnight, has been picked up in a major deal with global distributor Film Movement and is due to hit cinemas in the US and Canada.

 

BALANCE

 

The film tells the story of a war photographer who struggles to balance her job and family. It was made for a reported €5m, and was offered €300,000 from the Irish Film Board.

 

Mullen, from Artane, appears as the other half of Irish actress Maria Doyle Kennedy and both play friends of Binoche's character. This is the second film he has featured in.
