Paperless/Credit Card tickets?

Recommended Posts

Looking at the TM page for the Vancouver event, it says that Credit Card ticketing (aka paperless tickets) will be used at some venues.  This means you need the cc you purchased the ticks with to enter the show, attempting to keep professional scalpers out of the market.

Do we know which venues this will be in play for?

And, why are tickets showing up on reselling sites already (at hugely inflated prices of course, ) when they really shouldn't even be on sale to anyone yet?

1. details will surface the closer the presale time is...

2. they are not actually in possession of any ticket, since nothing has been on sale yet - it's merely the assumption they will get the ticket... so, buy from them at your own risk...

That's simply the way resellers work.

I have reported a couple of those websites by sending a pm to Max.

Also just noticed one that is offline because "the content conflicts with the Belgian law" ...

If you come across one of those, pm one of the moderators and they'll send it on ...

some venues have agreements with seat licensees and season ticket holders that allow for the purchase of their seats/other tickets in advance, similar to how luxury box "owners" get the tickets for their box.   Not sure that is happening for the U2 shows, but it happens.  as others said, often these postings are just scalpers posting on speculation they will get seats in those locations.  stubhub is not supposed to allow this, but again, it's revenue for them. unfortunate, but it's big business. . .

It'll be paperless for GA and RZ tickets--probably not for seats.  At least that's the way it was for I & E.

Rose Bowl in LA is entirely paperless, according to TM site.  Read before you make final purchase...Pros and Cons

I don't believe that is true. It states the following for the Rose Bowl show:

  • RESERVED LOCATIONS are electronic Ticketmaster Paperless Tickets ONLY. Please click here for more information on Paperless Ticketing.
  • Ticketmaster Paperless Tickets are NON TRANSFERABLE. ORIGINAL TICKET PURCHASER MUST ATTEND THE EVENT.
  • At ENTRY you must provide the CREDIT CARD USED TO PURCHASE AND VALID PHOTO ID. Name on credit card must match photo ID.
  • Entire party MUST enter the venue at the same time.

It states "Reserved Locations" are paperless, there is no mention of general admission being paperless.
