Rose Bowl: $38 in Ticketmaster fees PER ticket?

Recommended Posts

Is anyone else shocked at Ticketmaster fees? You think you're buying $280 tickets? Oh no -- it's actually more like $320 because Ticketmaster tacks on $38 in fees PER TICKET! That is insane. In other words, the fees per ticket are greater than the price of GA tickets. That's insane.

I get that the Rose Bowl and Ticketmaster need to make their cut on the ticket sales. But I wish they'd just fold those costs into the ticket price so that we know the actual price of the ticket upfront, rather than constantly leaving the ticket-purchasing process with a bad taste in our mouths.

Washington, DC tacked on $21 and change, per ticket. I thought that was crazy, until I saw what the Rose Bowl fees were!

Yes, let's talk about those "service" fees for paperless tickets (after we all solve the problem of Ticketmaster glitches and scalpers, of course). Here in Austin, Texas, the local theater CHARGES YOU $2.00 per ticket if you want to PRINT OUT YOUR OWN TICKET ON YOUR OWN PRINTER. But, there is no fee if you choose to scan your barcode at entry on your mobile device. Go figure.

Worry not, this is why TM was sued last time. And will be again. Those 2020 expiry vouchers will be complemented with more vouchers in the future. Trust.

I bought four 35 dollar tickets for Pittsburgh .

Price
US $35.00 x 4
Service Fee
US $19.20 x 4
Facility Charge
US $6.55 x 4

Plus an order processing fee of 4.25

So on a 35 dollar ticket there were fees of 27 dollars per ticket ,that's outrageous.

OP, those are really high fees . . . very unfortunate. But, I must admit, I am pretty upset. We have a group of five people and obviously could not use the presale option to get 5 tickets. So, I went to Ticketmaster yesterday to buy the tickets only to find that either robots or people were buying the tickets and then instantly reselling those same tickets at 2-5 times the original amount. The whole digital scalping thing is maddening. I was really looking forward to seeing U2 this time around, but I can't afford $2800 for 5 tickets that are in the nosebleeds.

Sorry for the sour grapes, I know everyone here will have a great time seeing one of the best bands of all time.
