This SOE is shaping up to be a gem

I like white flag as a symbol of unity beyond our politics as testament to our humanity.

That turning thoughts into feelings is an interesting angle of approach. One must have a certain degree of openness in this approach to cognitive dissonance.:Euro_Machphisto:

It’s a great album. Even better live!

I agree!

I’m glad they have played so much of it live.

Will “The Showman” make a live appearance before the end of the tour? Time will tell...

SOE definitely becomes an even more incredible album when played live.

I also agree.

Totally agree, always thought the album was right up there but live the songs have become even stronger. The fact I didn’t miss any JT songs is testament to SOE and hearing Zoo Station and WGRYWHorses was sublime. The mix of Get out of your own way into New Years Day really worked too.....fantastic shows.

It’s interesting that SOE live has now become a companion to AB - this makes sense because they are both the albums that deal with experience the most. (I wonder, with 20/20 hindsight, if they mildly regret not doing more songs from Boy on their last tour, since SOI and Boy deal with innocence as a theme the most.)

I’m really looking forward to the finale in Berlin. I think it will be a truly unique show.

I’m glad there was a change to the set list once the band toured Europe and yes the AB songs were great to hear. I have understand why there were no JT songs but it would have been awesome to finish on Streets instead of COBL.

Maybe they check the interest on a full album AB Tour. ?

If it would be needed.

It feels strange that in 8 days' time we'll be coming to the end of this tour cycle, and, indeed, to the whole Innocence/Experience cycle of the last 4 years. I'm going to miss this era of the band's work; it's been a box of treats.

I still love SOE - especially since it gave birth to the e&i tour.

Thank you, U2, for an amazing album and tour! ?

Rest well, and we look forward to having you delight us in unforeseen ways with a new album and/or tour when you feel that you are ready.

Thank you for your whole career, but thank you especially for the past 5 years, from the beginning of the SOI sessions to the completion of the e&i tour tonight. You wrapped up Innocence and Experience into a nice cohesive and complete musical package - William Blake himself would be proud of you! ???

Bless you until we all meet up again. ????

And so it's over.

At the far end of experience, we have recovered our innocence.

Simply... I like the whole album! :)

And now I love it more than before...
I got the opportunity to listen live: The Blackout, Lights Of Home, Red Flag Day, You're The Best Thing About Me, Summer Of Love, Get Out Of Your Own Way, Landlady, Love Is Bigger Than Anything In Its Way and 13 (There Is A Light)
My favorite is Lights Of Home but all the songs live are awesome.
This album is so special for me... it's something personal.

I agree. SOE showed live its energy as well as its intensity. It’s the best album the guys made in this century

Slightly off-topic, but, since the e&i tour was in support of this album, I’m going to post this here instead of the live thread that this subject first appeared in.

I want to tip my hat 🎩 to the U2.com shop for delivering the item that I ordered from the leftovers from the European tour so quickly! Despite its being shipped from the UK, I got it today - I was expecting it to take another week. (They actually sent it International Priority, but didn’t fleece me for the costs of the shipping when I ordered it - a nice change from the past!)

I don’t know how much more is left in the store from the European goodies, but, if you ordered something/will order something, it may end up arriving faster than usual.

OK - back to the regular service of praising SOE. 👍

A couple more hours for me for it to be official, but I wanted to acknowledge the birthday/anniversary of SOE’s release too! I’m glad you got the ball rolling! 😎

Happy 1st Birthday/Anniversary, Songs of Experience!

I still can’t get over how much this album (and tour) grabbed me. Usually after a tour, I’ll put away an album for a rest for a while. Still haven’t been able to do that with this one. Still in heavy rotation.

Honestly, I feel like this album has been an essential piece of the puzzle that is the last year of my life. I'm still holding out hope that The Little Things comes back into the set on future tours!

I thought Dec 11th was the official release of SOE.  I now see it was yesterday.  Did EI tickets go on sale December 11?  If not, perhaps it's the date I realized how incredible SOE is from start to finish.  I have the cd I got from buying tickets, plus the bonus one.  They play, one after the other, off my system..  Lately, I've been in the other room packing stuff and letting SOE play the second time without realizing it.  I eventually notice and think I should hear something else.  That is usually when Bono sings, :"When you look so good".   Almost every time that line makes me realize I'm into the second listen.  I've been letting it play and listening to both as though I never heard the first.  It's a remarkable album.  It's also remarkably fun to dance to it.  It's hard to believe we are on first anniversaries of SOE/EI..  This will always be a very special marking point of my life.  Happy second year of life to Songs of Experience.
