berlin was a band but it’s also the capitol of Germany!

Take my breath away was from homo-erotic beach volleyball Tom cruise fighter pilot 80s flick Top Gun

I may get confused but I'm not that confused, Doc.   Blowin' Sky High is still on regular rotation in my household.  ?

My next concert took an unexpected turn.  I'm going to see The Killers at the brand new Fiserv Arena in Milwaukee.  It's this coming Tuesday night.  I just found a 12th row seat, with a great side view, for $29 and nabbed it.  This is the first event, and concert, at this arena.  Wonderful, Wonderful.

Simple minds were excellent as were the  Pretenders . Christie Hynde has still got it .... She’s 66!

Is Martin Chambers still drumming for The Pretenders? I love Chrissy, but if Martin weren't drumming, I'd be of two minds about seeing them myself. But, I'm glad you liked the show - I love The Pretenders.

I'm glad Simple Minds were good too - I'm still debating seeing them. If I were to, that would be my next show! B)

I saw them last January in Chicago.  They are great.

I saw the Pretenders when she was very pregnant.  Middle of the Road was the current single.  I felt so high when she did that growl and then went into the harmonica in MOTR.  Great show.  I'm not sure how she did it, but she had on high heeled boots and kicked the arena's ass.  I was blown away by them.

The Violent Femmes were great.  I don't think I've ever heard them sound better.  It was very fitting that they were so well received and the first band to play the brand new Fiserv Foum.  For anyone reading this who does not know; they are from Milwaukee.  The drummer from Barenaked Ladies played with them as well.

The Killers kicked ass.  They opened with Mr. Brightside, went straight into Somebody Told Me and ended by bringing out The Violent Femmes.  They all did the whole theme song from Laverne and Shirley to end the evening..  I had forgotten that the guitarist for The Killers is from Fond du Lac, WI.  I was born 20 minutes north in Oshkosh.  Very cool.  Brandon Flowers was in great voice.

The new arena is amazing.  I've never seen anything like it.  One side is a three stories tall glass atrium, running the length of the venue, where one looks out at our entire downtown and Lake Michigan.  The whole place is lined with glass walls which have views of Milwaukee from every direction and angle possible.  They even have heaters built into the glass so it does not frost in winter.  They also have a white tailed buck which is made from 35,000 pieces of basketballs, all sewn and glued together.  The antlers are made from basketball hoop nylon.  It's life sized and very beautiful. It was commissioned and made by a local artist. It was great to see John McGlockin's jersey hanging in the middle, of the bowl, way up high.  He's done a tremendous amount of charity/philanthropic work in Milwaukee.  Fear the Deer!

Great, great show.  I'm most fortunate to have gotten my seat so inexpensively.   The Fiserv Forum has a panoramic vista where one can go outside and look out at Milwaukee.  It's probably four or five stories up in the air with glass walls and no guard rail.  It was the first thing I did when I got inside.   I looked down and whoa...I had to tell myself I cannot fly because I felt like I could.  I was humming Elevation and Vertigo for the next 90 minutes while I walked around and took in all of the venue for the its first event.  It's stunning.. It was great to go see this show after listening to the Cologne show in the live thread earlier today. The new arena has a big pic of Martin Luther King Jr. on a wall.  It's part of a large mural.  It's a pic of a bronze statue we have of MLK on a street named after him.  I feel very proud.

I did not know where to post that pic.  A girl from Missouri took several and texted them to me.  All of us up front either knew each other or we now do. There were people from all over the country.  They are amazing live.  It's a four mile drive on a gravel road into the farm/venue.  The place is not even marked. Nobody could get a cell phone signal once in the venue.  The band was buzzing around on golf carts and in old pick up trucks while waving at us.  It was great.

Cheap Trick is from a city near me, illumination70.  I've seen them many times and they are always great.  I've never seen Joan Jett.  That sounds like a great show.

With a little luck and a lot of sacrifice, Elton John in Chicago will be my next show, which is later this month.  It's expensive but he is so great in my life I can't not go to it.

Tomorrow, it's off again to NYC to Radio City Music Hall to see Nine Inch Nails! B)

First time since 2014 since I've seen them live overall (Manchester, England), and first time since 2009 since I've seen them in the US.

They radically change the setlists every night! I can't wait to see what rarities they perform - at one show in Phoenix, they played the entirety of their "Broken" album in order, even the two hidden tracks, the first time they played every song from it on any tour.

I saw them 4 years ago in London, awesome live band. Just a shame I was in the nosebleed seats!
