Wow... well done Croatia!

Maybe now Argentina's players will realise that Leo Messi is only human. He has carried that team on his back for years, but he can't do everything on his own. The rest of them need to put more effort in.

I know Australia benefitted from a penalty given via VAR

But, I still don't like it.

So, who will win?

If I was a betting man I’d say Belgium.

That's my pick too. They underwhelmed 4 years ago a little bit, but they look great now.

Brazil get out of gaol with two late goals.

And how about VAR overrulling a penalty after it was given !

I know... :o I can understand why FIFA introduced the technology, but now it's all just getting silly.

They need to go away and have a rethink.

Max, you are the master of understatement.

Where is "El Screaming Bono" of the Mexican National Football Team? He hasn't gone away already, has he?

What a goal by Toni Kroos... and how very typically German that they win right at the last minute!

Yes - they just reminded everyone that they are still a force to be reckoned with.

Last-minute and with only 10 men - that goal changed the whole group.

I certainly agree with Belgium and I can't think of a good reason to disagree with the choice of Croatia right now...

That would be great. The team is very strong and at its peak. If they want to harvest, this is the time.

But I'm worried about the three yellow cards that have been given already. One of them for Kevin De Bruyne.

Can someone please explain yellow cards to me?  I've seen them given yet heard no explanation.  I would look it up but it's more screen time, which is limited for me..  If someone could help me understand, it would be appreciated.

Hey mate, ive copied this from Wikipedia, my explanation was a bit more long winded..

A yellow card is shown by the referee to indicate that a player has been officially cautioned.

The player's details are then recorded by the referee in a small notebook; hence a caution is also known as a "booking". A player who has been cautioned may continue playing in the game; however, a player who receives a second caution in a match is sent off (shown the yellow card again, and then a red card).

In a tournament like the World Cup, if a player accumulates too many yellow cards over a number of games, they are suspended.

if a player commits a serious offence; they can be shown a straight red card (skipping the caution) and has to leave the game immediately.

A player that gets two yellow cards will be suspended for one match in the tournament. That can have important consequences if it is a key player in the team.

So players who already received a yellow card are under stress not to receive another one. Dangerous playing like tackles for instance can lead to a yellow card by the referee.

Yep, that about sums it up

England v Panama today. On paper, it *should* be an easy win for England - but as we all know, football is never *that* simple
