What's kind of worrying is that I've seen quite a few people missing the joke and thinking that Bono actually seriously believes this stuff. One of MacPhisto's speeches in Paris (where he focused quite heavily on the Swedish election) got quite a bit of bad press.

So, I guess the old joke (which is often completely true) that Americans don't understand satire applies elsewhere in the world too...

I've read stuff over the years about people not getting it on the ZooTV Tour, and I always found that slightly hard to believe. But this year I've seen it with my own eyes. People really do jump to the most bizarre conclusions.
