It's October right! My 54th birthday tomorrow, so the album U2 October really spoke to me. I'm a pastor, so after a pretty busy weekend with family and church, I'm chilling* this morning relistening to October. I love it! I rejoice, with the rest of the world with a shout! There's a youthful, dynamic, soulful energy about the album. It was my first love, my first exposure to U2 and as I listen this morning, it rekindles those feelings of joy as I remember listening to it on a borrowed Walkman, while weed-wacking on a Scripture Union campsite on the beautiful Scottish island of Arrange. It was a glorious summer's day. Every track on October resonated with my soul and with my hopes and dreams as I looked forward to starting Uni and the adventure that is grown-up life. Thank you U2 for being a big part of the soundtrack of my life. I mentioned *chilling but since I've been living and working in Laos, these past 13+ years, I need a fan on to do this. (A tear just ran down my cheek, as "Tomorrow" has just finished playing. It still has power to move me all these years on,) So here's the deal U2: you're never going to play Vientiane, so how about at least playing Bangkok? That's only an hour from here by plane and I've been watching, waiting, dutifully reading my ThaiTicketm*ster emails in the hope, just the merest, faintest hope that I see U2 appear, playing in the Thai capital. Alternatively, if you ever rock up in Vientiane, give us a shout. There's a great Irish bar with good craic and I'm sure you could play a wee set there. Machine gun guitar intro. of "Stranger in a strange land... I wish you were here." Okay, so you're rock stars and I'm pastor of a small church but I think we'd find plenty to talk about anyway. "Is that all?" Yes, for now, it is! Till next time... Blessings on U2 and all those who like me, get it.

There's really some over analysis of this in my opinion. Cedarwood, I can take, but wont miss, Iris - I love, it really has a personal tinge as I lost my mum around the time when innocence came out, the Ocean - really - just a boy filler....I jest.? It was so, so ,so refreshing to see U2 DO WHAT THEY DO BEST, and when I was just starting to think they had forgotten how to do it! 3 great tracks thrown in, with thought. I'm so totally re-energised for Belfast in a few short weeks. I do hope they keep an element of this in the remaining shows. All 3 were performed brilliantly. Proof if ever there was needed, that UF was always an indoor track, and performed solidly. Wild horses, performed really well (croke '05 last time I heard that one), 'Stay', well that just takes me back to the RDS, in Dubs 1993. Yum.

Spongebob - I'll take it!! I'll take it even if it has nothing to do with my post. If they keep mixing it up that would be great. Vertigo tour was great because every couple of shows you'd think - would have loved to be at that one!! Cheers

Yes - the new additions were very welcome and they did sound great! I'm glad that "Gloria" came back too. However, in a detached and more objective analysis, they did come at a cost. I think I can speak for most (perhaps almost all(?)) that losing the "The Ocean/Iris/Cedarwood Road" section of the customary setlist for the three that were played instead was a real plus for this show; however, both SBS and UTEOTW were cut in addition - that (IMHO) mutes the exchange a bit. We're gaining three songs to lose five. Full marks for the three songs that were played, but that first intermission came awfully quickly... I'm a bit curious to see how this show informs shows going forward - is this the new master setlist? Is this set version alternating with the more established one? Are most of the rules thrown out for the first portion of the show now (post-IWF, that is)? I am intrigued. I was going to listen to the rest of the tour anyway, but now I/we have even more incentive!

Red Zone was brutal on this tour for me, and I've been doing RZ since 360. They jammed in way more people in on this tour, compared to the IE version. It was longer, skinnier, and further removed from the stage. The RZ bar service at previous shows on 360, IE and JT ran until last call as it would anywhere else in the arena, and on this tour it shut down before the show even started (like 8:05pm)! I can appreciate the contribution that the RZ ticket makes to a worthy cause, but strictly from an enjoyment perspective, the RZ experience for EI completely sucked compared to the 360, IE and JT versions. I enjoyed night 2 closer to the B stage.
