    Evening ev'rybody,

Just a quick word if I can. I renewed my U2.com subscription on 13/01/20. As it was due to run out on 31st January 2020.

It still has the gift for 2019 for renewing. Will I get the 2020 gift as I already have the 2019.

    Love and Peace

    Neil.

I think this is the plan

I received my shipment without any problems with the German customs. However, the CN22 customs declaration on my package was filled out with realistic $10. If it says $ 0 or $ 1 it is not very realistic and the customs will order the consignee to explain the real value. Live Nation should enter a realistic $10 on all shipments - this would avoid many problems.

So, it's not ALL German deliveries that are having the $0 issue? Is it a regional thing perhaps? (i.e. different regions of Germany showing $0 value, others showing $10?)

Is it just Germany that gets hit with a $0 value follow-on inconvenience (having to go to post office to collect, surcharges etc)

Is there other online threads / petitions / blogs (yet, other than this one and associated zoo threads) that pinpoint clearly

    a) the issue in one / 2 sentences

    b) the region(s) / country(s) it is still happening in

    c) numbers of fans it is affecting.

Again, for those who I have had chats and more with on this customs charge thing in the past, I know we seem to be going over old ground, thanks for your input, patience, and persistence (=?)

    Just found the thread again:

There you can find all info on customs regulations - it's actually very very easy and would be really easy for Live Nation to implement:
    a) do NOT Label package as gift
    b) do NOT give the value as 0 or 1 USD but something like e.g. USD 15 (up to 20 would be ok)

All done and solved - at least for the majority of recipients in Germany. Couldn't be easier, could it?

and, just for clarity and info, do you or any other fans from Germany have any examples (blanking out personal details) you can add here of other items this has happened with (both positive and negative, with screenshots) with German customs.

I was referring to the u2.com gift. And the German customs rules apply to all shipments to Germany - including the u2.com gifts that are labelled incorrectly. They need to have a value stated on the form bigger than USD 0.

OK, others have stated that is an issue, we have raised in the past - do you have a link (in English if possible) to an official page somewhere that explains what you are saying here?

I had to pick the gift up from customs....cost me time, fortunately, not money. But I had to go there personally or use the postal service which would have cost EUR 28.5 in fees.

Picking up from customs is unnerving. I got the notification on Wednesday evening, telling me to pick it up from customs by friday 2pm or it would be returned. It was a major hassle to get there in time.

so, just to be clear, this is not unique to U2.com gifts, it is a German customs thing with other items also?

I'm genuinely angry now (to put it mildly)!!!!

As expected, I got notification from my German customs office today (11 December) that I have to personally claim my gift there or pay more than USD 30 (converted) to have the postal service do it for me. AND: the letter is dated 4 December and they told me they'd hold the package until 11 December (TODAY)!!! I got the letter after work at home, roughly at 6pm. The customs office was only open until 4pm....NOW WHAT? I will try to contact them tomorrow but seriously doubt that my package will still be there and even if...the opening hours are during my work hours.

By the way, the package gives a value of USD 0 - it was absolutely clear from the beginning that the package would be stuck at customs!!! I do not know how often we reported to Live Nation and here that a company cannot send an item without value to Germany (see the other thread for detailed info on that from earlier this year, way before the goods were dispatched). I do not understand, how paying members (i.e. customers) can be treated so respectlessly. I paid in February, is it too much to ask that I would like to have the membership gift by Christmas? The fact that I have to pick it up from customs (and believe me, there are many many Germans in the same position) is so unnecessary if only Live Nation decided to handle the shipment properly (as requested a thousand times) or, even better, ship items to Europeans from Europe ( to fans of a European band!!).

@bigwave and @Max Tsukino, how can I get my gift asap, without having to take off time from work or without paying another USD 30 for the postal service? Any ideas? And any ideas how to change anything for the better in future?

P.S.: Does Live Nation roll the dice for the value they put on the packages? In Germany, there were packages received with USD Zero, USD One and USD Ten stated on them....

also, for individual issues, a reminder that the thing to do is to work with the CS team via https://www.u2.com/help

choose from the drop menu the heading you think applies specifically to your own issue, and keep us updated as to the outcome, thanks

Does that mean there will be no opening act for the tour finale in Mumbai as well, or is that yet to be determined?

I had to renew, as subscription ended last week. I choose the 2019 gift, and raised a ticket with customer service with instructions to swap this choice with the 2020 gift when this is announced.

keep us updated on this strategy, we still awaiting news of 2020 gift, and keeping note of those in same situation as yourself,
