As a driver for both Uber and Lyft in my hometown, I can almost guarantee there will be a spike in prices aka "surge" or "prime time" #useLyft. Several things you can do.... wait it out (eventually the price goes down, but there is no guarantee), move (going to a different area can change the price as it is geographically dependent on your pickup location), share the ride with strangers (some cities have Lyft Line or UberPool, it's late and I don't have the energy to search this for you but it will offer this in the app if available.) share the cost w friends (splitting the fare will ease the burden). All in all, I recommend leaving the general area as it will be chaotic and time consuming for you and your driver to find each other. Save yourself some sanity and possibly $$ by walking to a different area, maybe a bar or restaurant, and have the car pick you up there. No affiliate links please - removed - mods
Be safe, smart and you'll have an easy ride home that hopefully will not cost too much.
