  1. 123love, I bet more then a few Guinness are in the boys holiday plans I think Bono has ongoing conversations with God.
  2. 43292 first time posting in this thread. Hope everyone had a happy Christmas.
  3. [quote name='Janette B wrote: surrenders wrote: Janette B']Feeling cooped up from days and days of nothing but pouring rain (need directions to start building arc) and stressed because so much to do for Christmas, but not feeling it much this year for several reasons. Janette, are you out west? Cali? Good Lord the rains out there are awful, everything is floating away. Yes, I'm in what's left of California - most of it is a flooded, soggy mess!!!!!! Supposed to let up tomorrow and as it is the day of the funeral and it is to be an outdoor, graveyard service, I surely hope that the weather man knows what he's talking about as don't need any more stress I hope the weather held off for the funeral. I'm just astounded with the rains in California. I hope you're safe where you are Janette. Hope you had a happy Christmas.
  4. Maybe he'll come tomorrow since he was out busking to all hours
  5. Oh my, I'm so glad that person found her! Is she in a nursing home of some sort? If she is, I'd be extremely upset that somehow she got out. Alzheimer's is a heartbreaking disease

  7. [quote name='Zhivvy wrote: surrenders'] Can someone tell me what bangers and mash are? It doesn't sound like anything edible...lol Zhivvy, LOL at your husband not noticing you while watched Top Gear. If Top Gear is a car show I could see my husband doing the same thing. Mine might notice me but then say something like, "what are you doing, I'm trying to watch this" bangers is slang for sausages and mash is mashed potatoes. And Top Gear is a very popular car show! I think all wives have the same problem when it is on!!! Thanks for clarifying on bangers and mash, and yeah, I think we all have the same problem when it comes to cars and sports...lol

  9. Janette, so sorry about your mother-in-law passing away.
  10. Scout, that is one hilarious story, thanks for the laugh.
  11. Totally enjoying being newly unemployed with severance paychecks. No more setting the alarm, fighting traffic, putting up with office politics, gossip and all the other B.S. I'm off the hamster wheel and outta the rat race, for now.
  12. Illum, I'm sorry about your friend losing his house, how awful. Woke up this morning with the worst migraine I've ever had, so the whole day is a wash. Had to go into work because it was our last day. Was very sad saying goodbye to everyone in our department after 5 years working together. There was a lot of unnecessary drama that went on the whole time I worked there and it hurt people, so I won't miss the place at all, just some of the people, but we'll keep in touch.
  13. [quote name='Zhivvy wrote: surrenders']I think I missed something somewhere. Do the Bono mango references mean what I think it does If your mind is in the gutter then yes!!! lol!!! http://community.u2.com/topic/18710?page=1 This thread in the Bono forum and the first picture should explain it all - but I will admit to naming it a mango!!

  15. Christmas tree is up and decorated. Working on the rest of the house bit by bit. It all comes down a lot faster then it goes up. Haven't bought one pressie yet
  16. Glad to hear that Illuminataion. 123Love, I hope your daughter can have the kitty. Kitty needs a home and your daughter needs a soft kitty to cuddle.
  17. Zhivvy, have you heard anything? The waiting is the hardest part! Don't they realize you have to go to Cape Town? We had our first little snow of the winter today, just a couple of inches, no biggie. I poked myself in the eye tonight, don't ask, and have a scratch on my eyelid that hurts
  18. Mumford and Sons album Sigh No More, nonstop. I love this band! His lyrics are amazing and the songs are really very joyful or meaningful. I want to stomp my feet like mad when I listen to them.
  19. [quote name='Zhivvy wrote: surrenders wrote: Zhivvy']A lovely and proud mood after watching my gorgeous daughter on the stage. It was a great show! So bright and colourful and some amazing dancers How old is your daughter Zhivvy? She's a dancer? She is only 7 - so a young dancer - loves being on the stage though! Don't think she'll ever make it big in hte dancing world but she loves it and performed her little heart out for three nights! Aaaaw, she sounds adorable! Good for her and I'm sure you're very proud mama
  20. [quote name='Zhivvy wrote: surrenders']Zhivvy, are you moving to South Africa? I've seen a few posts about it I think, you're a teacher? No I am not - just going to the show there in capetown and very excited about it! Sorry to hear about your work surrenders - I can really empathise with you at the moment as I have no work either. i hope that you manage to find something soon, and your son too. And do you already have your house on the market or are you waiting for a little while first? And if you don't sell is there chance that you could rent etc.... Thinking of you and hope that all goes well. Oh wow, going to the Capetown is very cool! I won't be looking for work until spring because I need to get this house ready to put on the market next year, so no, it's not on the market yet. I'll still be getting my regular paycheck until middle of March (severance pay), along with unemployment, so that's a good thing. My husband doesn't want to rent it out because we'll be too far away to be a 'landlord' if anything needs fixing. He's also afraid of what someone might do to the house. It's going to be weird not having a job to go to and I'll probably start going crazy with being indoors for the whole winter.

  22. I'm pretty much in a perpetual state of anxiety. My job ends in December, I'll get severence pay (full paychecks) until middle of March and also unemployment. Our son just graduated high school and can't even find a simple job. So many adults are out of work the young people are really losing out on jobs they'd normally get but are going to older, experienced workers. They're not gaining that early work experience we all had. I want to him to go to the community college and learn a trade, but he just wants to make some money right now, can't blame him. My husbands job is moving far enough away that we have to move, he can't commute that distance, in a little over a year. I'm living in fear of not being able to sell our house and then what do we do. The housing market is so bad, not much is selling. It's all I think about, and the husband doesn't seem to understand we may end up in a financial crisis if the house doesn't sell before his job moves. UGH!
