  1. Wishing the Happiest of Happy Birthdays to 'the B man' on this day, & wishing all good things to his family always.

  2. "A world in white gets underway!" - U2. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only son so that whoever believes in him would not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16.  Hoping for everyone peace, all good things, & happiness in 2019!

  3. Prayers for Bono's beautiful voice. All the best to Bono.

  4. "But soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the East, & Juliette is the sun." And that's your ounce of Shakespeare for today. (From memory, so I hope I got it right. )
  5. Paola! I didn't remember that Dickinson poem! I don't remember having seen it before. What awesome poetry you've been posting! I'm glad you posted the Shelley & Rossetti poems, too.
  6. Hello Manohlive. Some folks do write their own poetry although it's more likely to see people post poems that they like by others. This is not legal advice about protection of one's own writing / intellectual property, & laws do change from time to time of course, but I took a 'media law' course in the past (here in the U.S.) & the general rule I learned then was that once you've published something you wrote (wherever you've published or posted it), as long as it's dated & can be shown that you're the person who published or posted it, then that serves as a sort of copyright on its own, showing it's yours - obviously as long as no one else published or posted the same thing before you did. I recommend that if you post original work here & you want to keep track of that, then keep a copy for yourself that you can find, & make a note of when you posted it & where. For ex, if you write an original poem or post original lyrics here, keep a copy for yourself that you can find - for ex, copy-&-paste a copy into an email & send it to yourself (which I would think would date-stamp it, too). I once posted an original little poem of mine on U2.com which was not a big-deal poem, but it had sentimental value to me & I liked it, & I probably kept a copy of it but I'm not sure whether I could find it now. As far as your last question goes - and I wish a lawyer would see your question & jump in w/ some general guidance since what I'm saying is not legal advice - I've always understood that it can depend on the kind of work & can also depend on whether someone is using someone else's work to make money from it or not. I have a question about this myself because I always heard that after a certain number of years (a long time - like, for ex, maybe after 25 yrs) songs then become part of the 'public domain' & can be sampled or recorded by other artists - but then I've also heard about the song "Happy Birthday" supposedly being copyrighted & people having to pay to use that song in certain circumstances, which doesn't make sense to me. Well, to some extent, the law doesn't have to make sense to people though, does it - it just is whatever it is, Lol. As far as copying & distributing certain works or excerpts of certain works, I've always heard there's something called 'fair use' under which a person can copy & distribute someone else's work to some extent (if it's not prohibited otherwise) as long as it's for educational purposes or other such non-money-making purposes. You can definitely post music videos here & poetry/verse/lyrics, but I'm thinking it can't be a spam type of thing where someone is posting a link to a commercial, money-making website. People do post videos from youtube here to share w/ each other some songs they like, for ex, whether it's music of U2's or other bands (as much as we hugely love & adore U2, we scandalously listen to other music too, lol). I've seen some folks post some of their own music (& verse) & I'm happy to say I've never seen someone abuse it in a spammy/overly self-promotional/commercial way. But if you still have questions, I think Bigwave (the u2.com manager) would probably be the person to ask. I think it was good of you to ask in the first place. Btw, when you mentioned Caged Bird, were you referring to Maya Angelou's work (i.e. 'I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings')?
  7. Hello Jenwins. I have 2 questions. When you say NYC, do you mean East Rutherford, NJ (MetLife Stadium there)? Also, I didn't think those tickets were transferable at all - I thought they require the card they were purchased with to be swiped at the stadium for entry (unless a person somehow got their ticket(s) 'in hand' when they bought them). Thanx in advance for your reply.

Where In The World are U2 ?

If I've never said it b4, you've got one of the best U2 gifs around. I could watch it for 2 or 3 minutes straight if I had 2 or 3 minutes to spare, which I don't, Lol. (Set to the tune of 'It's a beautiful day') : It's a beautiful thing! (The heart is a bloom. Pushes up through the stony ground!...)

Wow. Beautiful photograph. Unique, too. (Sans sunglasses, but it looks like evening there.) Ah...how great to be where there are palm trees!

I'm curious - who are the ladies in this photo? (I'm thinking the lady on the left might be a certain comedic actress, but I know it's just as likely I'm wrong about that.)

Good photo of Guggi. (Personally, I would've cropped the right-side 1/5th or so of the photo off, but it's a matter of personal taste.) He has created art that I enjoy - including, for ex, his 'Vessels' paintings & other pieces.
  12. (P.S. Max Tsukino & anyone else: Just to let you know: for me, the trick to getting a tkt was someone's tip that said if you get a message like 'unable to process your request,' that just means you've tried too many times, but: just clear the cache, close the browser, & start again, & then if there are tickets you'll have access to buying them.)
  13. Thanx much, Max. I was just about to say: Toronto, here I come. But NYC is affordable for me. Toronto - not so much. Max Tsukino & Bigwave & anyone else: I just came here to say thanx, I got a ticket, & I was so happEEE (& maybe I still am)...but on the way here, an unusual but *important* question arose: what did I just buy a tkt to? I didn't stop to see the homepage video til after purchase - I knew this tour was a celebration of Joshua Tree, which is great, but...I *have* to ask now: in addition to performing JT, *please* tell me NewYearsDay & SBS WILL be performed too! They HAVE to be. Not kidding on this. Does anyone know??
  14. Thanx much, Max. I was just about to say: Toronto, here I come. But NYC is affordable for me. Toronto - not so much.
  15. true... but East Rutherford is so close to NY that sometimes is considered as if it were - have seen it before... I got the answer I was looking for already, as you know. Then I saw some folks talking here. I debated whether to ask about it again here, knowing the answer might make ERutherford tix disappear. I was in the middle of picking out a ticket in another screen. They were available. Then I asked here. I think I shot myself in the foot by asking here. Tix were available in ERutherfordt - til I asked this question here. Now they're gone. Argh. *Sigh.*
  16. What are people talking about here re: NY? There are no NY dates announced.
  17. When fact is fiction & tv reality! 'Don-the-Con Swamp' makes this a REAL CONCERN in America these days! (You could change 'tv' to 'twitter.')

America did not elect Trump. It's an illegitimate election because of all the illegal & immoral Voting Rights Violations by legislators (of a certain political stripe) to stop the poor, elderly, minorities, & college students from voting & to make some of their votes not count. Despite that, Hillary got about 2 & a half MILLION more votes than Trump, & only the 'Electoral College' gave Trump the 'win.' Things are still going to court.

  18. let them announce the tour and you'll have your Guinness record Lol. True. So true. And long time no speak Monica, so "Hello!"
  19. Well I've pitched the idea and it's been approved. Turns out it's also a long weekend (I had forgotten that) so that worked in my favor. Planning on playing a set of one song from each album, not necessarily in chronological order, just trying to find songs that I can confidently play. As I'm a bit of a novice and I'm going to be playing in the corner of the games room because that's where the power point is, I'm calling it "The 90° & Inexperience Show" Will post the setlist later. A great idea. Sounds great. All the best w/ it.
  20. What we really need is to organize a 'Guinness Book of World Records' effort in the following category: 'The most fans gathered online at the same time at the same place (U2.com) for the same purpose - to shamelessly Beg & Plead with U2 to Go On Another Tour or at least Play A Few More Concerts - as long as the concerts Include New York!' It really is an actual 'GuinnessBookOfWorldRecords' category. You probably just haven't heard of it yet. But it exists. Because I just created it. Just now. Suggestions will be taken (here) on a rolling basis regarding when this online BeggingPleading gathering will occur.

  22. I think there should be a preference in pre-sale given to people who've had a subscription for over a year - the reason is that I think people who subscribe just for pre-sale are usually (or often) way off on guessing when it's really getting close to ticket-sale time for a tour because false rumors happen about that. I wonder the thoughts of longtime subscribers about this - do u think I'm right that people who subscribe just for pre-sale just when they think tix are about to start selling are often way off in guessing when the sales will start?
  23. For all the kids graduating into 'the real world' - let's keep them in our hearts! It's a mad/crazy world out there.

Where In The World are U2 ?

Hi U2LAWoman! I hear u, but what u speak of is mostly in the south. (I'm Christian & born & raised in the northeast & I live here, & I haven't met any Christians here who think that way.) I've had conversations about it w/a Christian cousin of mine raised in the south who lives there: I think the gun thing started as something left over from the civil war. My cousins & I think in some different ways about it, but I still love 'em & they still love me . I'm not defending it when I say this, but I think a fear of "outsiders" coming in & 'telling them what to do' turned into a fear or concern that some day laws might be passed against them being able to practice their religion their way - but then politics & hyper-capitalism (gun manufacturers, etc) took that concern & ran away w/it & made it seem like more of a cause for fear or concern than it really is. Not that I think Christians should use weapons if such a day ever came anyways, which I don't think it ever would. Besides, Jesus didn't let his disciples take up physical weapons even to defend him, so... Anyways, our constitution speaks of the need for "a" militia, & to me & a lot of other Americans that means one - not a lot of little militias around the country that a bunch of different people make - and the Constitution speaks of the need for "a well-regulated militia" - which to me & a lot of other Americans means the National Guard. Well, that's my 2-cents worth. "We need love&peace..Lay down your guns. All u daughters of Zion, All u Abraham sons..Baby don't fight, we can talk this thing thru.."
