Floridita727
Thanks everyone for all your advice! Its very helpful. So from the general consensus I think I'll start with these: War Joshua Tree Achtung Baby NLOTH & I just heard "Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me" on Pandora. Been a while since I heard it but I like it. Its sexy

Subscriber Marvgadgie Posted October 16, 2009 Subscriber Share Posted October 16, 2009 I would start with Live Under A Blood Red Sky to check out the early stuff - it is not the sort of sound the casual listener would associate with U2 nowadays. If you like it then go get Boy (classic new wave) and War (classic angry young man rock). I would say The Joshua Tree is essential and then if you really like that era The Unforgettable Fire. From the 90's you must own Achtung Baby (GO BUY IT NOW) and if you like that have a go on Pop and Zooropa. I found my way in to U2 by getting Blood red Sky (as it was cheaper than the others!) and then picking up as many singles as I could cheaply. I feel U2 work in "trilogies" ... BOY/October/WAR - the early angry/new wave post Clash rock era The Unforgettable Fire/JOSHUA TREE/Rattle and Hum - the big stadium cowboy hats era ACHTUNG BABY/Pop/Zooropa - the reinvention! All That You Can't .../...Atomic Bomb/NO LINE ON THE HORIZON ... - the back to basics era (though No Line sort of bucks the trend). I'd get the ones in capitals and try others from that "era" if you like 'em. I'm sure you'll have fun and keep us up to date!!!! Marv
