US President Barack Obama has called for the release of Burma opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

Mr Obama made the call when he took part in a meeting with the primeminister of Burma, which is also known as Myanmar, and other southeastAsian leaders in Singapore this morning.

However, Mr Obama did not speak or shake hands with Thein Sein atthe meeting with the ten leaders of the Association of Southeast AsianNations (ASEAN).

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said President Obama reiterated his call for Ms Suu Kyi to be freed.

Mr Gibbs said: 'He brought that up directly with that government.'

Ms Suu Kyi has been detained for 14 of the past 20 years and remains under house arrest.

However, she has been allowed to meet US diplomats and last weekexpressed hope that those contacts would lead to democratic reforms.

The meeting in Singapore marked the first time in history a USleader had met with his counterparts in the 42-year-old group, whichfounded during the Vietnam War.

Realm enjoys this news and still call on our President of the United States, to do everything in his power to break the wall that separates or stops that government of Burma to do what is right under God's eyes.  Release the woman who also is a flower in the big garden. I call on the government of Burma to show their courage as men that they are,  to Release her and let her fly away to where she belongs without them standing in her way out of fear. We will all end up at a better place for their action. They will not regret their actions.
