Subscriber Janette B Posted January 7, 2010 Subscriber Share Posted January 7, 2010 Hmmmm . . . I like all the holiday-type celebrations, but the commercialism is rather hard to ignore and I really hate the Christmas stuff in stores before Halloween! I haven't been out looking, but it is WAY TOO EARLY for the Valentine's stuff to be on store shelves, isn't it, I mean Christmas doesn't really end until, well, until tonight actually (Epiphany) . . . . Halloween,Thanksgiving and Christmas all seem to overlap, so what the heck, add Valentine's too . . . I know, why not just drag out all the holiday stuff for the entire year and just leave it on store shelves round the clock, assault us with it all year long, LOL! illumination70
chinese new year parades are a lot of fun, Illum... have u ever been to one, ya know with the giant tiger dancing and so on? It can be a real blast and good food too... I'm afraid they don't have Chinese New Year Parades here in Eastern, WA,but I would love to relocate to a place which does. 123Love-You're luckier than I am because I often wonder what it would be like to recieve presents from guys on Valentine's day. Subscriber barbara1 Posted January 7, 2010 Subscriber Share Posted January 7, 2010 i get your irritation illumination (hey, i made a rhyme!). as you know i am very much in love, but i dont like the 'you have to celibrate and buy something for your love or else it isnt...' spirit. it's like halloween (over here i mean) i remember when i was a kid we only knew this holiday from american shows and movies .. but since a couple of years they've exploited it to fill the gap before Sinterklaas (celebrating a saint who brings toys and candy to the 'good' kids on 6th december) and make people buy. i think same goes for valentines day, how to make people spend money between newyear and easter?? the ones that enjoy it, let them enjoy it, i dont care that much for it. I'm definitely better off without him. After all, he caused me to miss the Elevation tour (long story), and since we broke up, I've rediscovered my love for Bono!
