He was admitted to a specialist neurosurgery unit in a Munich hospital, and is under the care of neurosurgeon Prof. Dr. Jorg Tonn and Dr Muller Wohlfahrt. Bono will spendthe next few days there, before returning home to recuperate. Once his condition has been assessed further, a statement will be made regarding the impact on forthcoming tour dates. Subscriber RedHill 0 Posted May 21, 2010 Subscriber Share Posted May 21, 2010 This doesn't sound good. Hope it doesn't lead to permanent problems for him. I don't know anything about medicine but involving a neuro surgeon would seem to indicate the spinal cord was involved. Anybody with medical knowledge care to do some educated speculation? Subscriber barbara1 95 Posted May 21, 2010 Subscriber Share Posted May 21, 2010 not good!! could be a hernia (hernia nuclei pulpos) best case scenario: The majority of herniated discs will heal themselves in about six weeks and do not require surgery. One study found that "After 12 weeks, 73% of patients showed reasonable to major improvement without surgery." worst case: Surgery should only be considered as a last resort after all conservative treatments (non-surgical therapy) have been tried, that did not alleviate the pain and heal the disc herniation.... not sure what the effects could be regarding to the up-coming concerts.... i hope they don have to postpone them, but on the other hand, i hope he takes good care of himself!! colleague of mine her husband suffers from this big time... but didnt wanna take it easy cause he was building their own, new house... result: 2 surgeries and a couple of weeks ago he's told he has to quit his job as a construction-worker.... he's only 38 years old!
