Following the announcing earlier this week that Iranian film-maker Jafar Panahi went on hunger strike in his prison cell in Tehran, I decided to make a petition asking for the Cannes Film Festival Jury to cancel this year's awards in protestation of his arrest. Here's the link: http://www.gopetition.com...ort-of-jafar-panahi.html

For those unfamiliar with the issue, he's a leading film-maker in Iran, having won many international prizes, who has been arrested on March 1st, under allegations of anti-governmental activities. he was invited to be part of the Jury at Cannes, but wasn't freed to attend, despite claims from French ministers and petitions by directors such as Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese.

The awards are due tomorrow, so we have very little time.
But if only we make the thought of cancelling the awards go around and reach people's minds, it's something. It's important to at least make everyone think of it and acknowledge the fact that most of times words are not enough, you have to make something more radical.

thanks for reading,

best regards
Tatiana
