I'm sorry, i don't mean to be so negative or seem to be constantly ranting against this site, but...

yesterday rehearsals began in torino

SPOILER ALERT but not too much of one

the band played a previously unreleased song, it sounds awesome, there are videos (if you dont want to wait til the 6th)

they also played an older track, this one i wont say anything on if you havent heard other than it looks like some pop musik is on the way. (again there are videos)

but my complaint is not just why is there nothing on the u2.com homepage about such exciting news, its the countdown video.

i go to @u2.com -- a free site -- to see the videos mentioned above (for free, i might reiterate). see the news on this, get all excited. come to this site, which i pay quite a fee for, and nothing. the countdown video for day 5 instead is the ridiculous light up microphone -- like thats really going to get me excited for the tour, now know i will be seeing ultraviolet again.

why couldnt they have posted a video of the soundchecks, cause that would probably take too much of live nations time.
its not like they really wanted these to remain a secret right up to the time they played em opening night, otherwise they probably wouldnt have rehearsed them in the open. I know this is just another rant against a monopolist concert promoter, but as long as i am foolish enough to pay their money, i think i can ask for something in exchange.

hopefully, i am only a set ahead and some better videos lay in the future, better videos than an empty crate.

I am sure it is not about keeping them secret - but it is a soundcheck - for a concert people are paying to see.

Why should they put a video on the website of it??

They are under no obligations to.

If fan sites do this - then good on them!!!! It is an unoffical video of soundcheck, right??

Some hard core fans out there to do this. This is how dedicated U2's fanbase is.

But you cannot expect the band itself or the people that run LiveNation (who may or may not be fans - who knows?) to be as hardcore into videoing every single new release - every soundcheck... every little bit of new information...

Everyone should ligghten up... let's all have a xanax and wine!!

What I think we can all be bitching about is how poorly managed this website is - all the technical problems people encounter on a constant basis - not just in a blue moon here and there...

and the 40 dollars subscription - where exactly does this money go??

I understand what you are venting about - but I also

Well what can those countdown videos really show us? I mean we have to take in account for the fact that the band is working their asses off to get this perfect. They wont have time to be talking to us about something 4 freaking days away. Would you rather have them talk to us for 1:30 or have their minds focused on putting on a great show? Also, they want the show to be a surprise. I certainly dont want to know all the secrets. It'll make the after-show report even better.

There is a certain energy (as im sure all us U2 fans have experienced) about going to a U2 concert and not knowing what is in store for us. Why have that ruined?
