Happy Birthday Mr. The Edge!

 

Thank you for all the tremendous inspiration and good humor, you have the gift of humility to go with your artistry. You've made quite a bit of my favorite music of all time, and I'm forever grateful for you and the band. You all keep me inspired; it is priceless that you are in the world, doing what you do, and your work is the soundtrack to mine, trying to make everything around me just a little bit better. It's the hobby of divine awesomeness.

 

As a listener I'm kind of new, but kind of old. I dove head first into U2's work last year after the umpteen-millionth time of hearing one of your songs somewhere and saying to myself "I love that song, I need to remember to buy that for my library!" And actually, the most frequent song that kept eliciting that response from me was New Year's Day, which I later discovered was released just days before I was. I've enjoyed so much of your work over the years between then and now, only half conscious that this was all U2. That signature sound of the melody on the guitar kept me coming back again and again until it all clicked and I became determined to start collecting albums. War, Achtung Baby and How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb are all on extremely heavy rotation, and the others aren't far behind.

 

So much good music, so uplifting. Thank you. And Happy Birthday!! Many, many, many, many more. God save U2, God knows we need you. What a gift!
