Ah yes, the whole butterfly effect and sliding door effect.

In regard to your teacher's argument about suicide.... I think the future is adapted regardless of what actions we take. If suicide is a crime because of how it will interfere with the future, than ANYTHING we do is a crime because ALL that we do interferes with the future ... regardless of whether we are there or not.

In regard to suicide... my view is that suicide is the most unfortunate result of hopelessness: If you don't have hope, you don't have purpose. If you don't have purpose, you may lose the will to live.

Suicide is one of the biggest killers of young ppl in Ireland. I, personally, have known many ppl - friends and colleagues - who took their own lives. Is it a crime? I don't know. What I do know is that it is a really sad event for all involved.

that was our argument too! i mean with that teacher... cause everyday we make decissions; goin to that party, or not? goin to the pub or goin to bed early? calling in sick or goin to work with a nasty cold? driving kids to school cause its cold or let them ride their bike as usual ? and all these decissions can make a big diffenrece for someone... me, my kids, some random stranger...

as for suicide, i known many people, luckily, who made that choice. but we did have this lung-specialist who was working on our ward for 15 years. a very wellknown doctor, who looked very certain bout himself (we sometimes complained bout him thinking he was god..) he was very collected and strict. one sunday-morning, august 3rd 2008 (his first weekend back from holiday) he seemed relaxed (because of his time off, we thougth) he came to visit his patients, signed some forms, said goodbye, even waved at the door (which surprised one colleague, that wasnt like him at all) picked up his son at home, dropped him off at train-station, drove like 5 minutes, parked his car on his way home under a bridge, left his wallet, hospital-tag and glasses on the frontseat and he started walking middle of the train-tracks, into a speeding train.

bout 20 minutes later his son made a call to home and ask his mom to come pick him up again, cause something happened and train-schedule was postponed....

i was working lateshift at the hospital, as the management appeared and asked my colleague and me to sit down, cause they had some bad news...

Many people think suicide is the ultimate selfish act, I don't, I view it as the result of hopelessness also (depression) and it's been rampant with young people in the U.S. also.  How terribly, terribly sad because our perspective and outlook when we're young is so different from when we're older, our coping skills.  Depression is so treatable now, almost everyone I know is taking something for depression or anxiety.  What the hell does that say about society too.  Young people here (I'm sure everywhere) look at their future as pretty negative, mostly because of the economy and not able to find jobs.  My own teenage son thinks why bother to go to college, etc. when there aren't even any jobs.  I know where he's coming from, but young people are usually very short sighted.  Hell, older people aren't fairing much better these days.

I would like to go back to Dublin in 1978, hang out with Gavin Friday, become friends with The Hype, also give them 150 pounds, see them turn into U2 and be present at ALL their rehearsals and concerts and, if possible, be old friends with them upon the day of today..
that would be fantastic!!! lovve this answer!!

tongue.gifdo you mean would he be giving the concerts? I dont know if he was a singer or not, but i suppose, he could do anything he wanted...lol!

if he was giving a concert would i go? of course...but then again he often told people not to tell anyone of his good works...kinda like wanting to keep things on the down low  regarding how awesome he was...

dont know then, if hed want to throw a big stage production, hee hee!

but then again, he did have quite a lot of fans who followed him around everywhere...

so maybe they could organize a concert when he wasnt looking..

but if they collected money for it...he might get mad and throw some tables aroundwink.gif

LOL @ throwing some tables around... I think you might be right.  tongue.gif

@ surrenders: its a shame young people arent motivated anymore... but can we blame them? as for your son, don worry, like i said in my first reply, i didnt know what direction to chose when i was 18. but i found my 'call' few years later and went back to study and become a nurse. and my love had a degree and never found a suitable job, so he worked in factories, but recently he did find one in line with his degree....  sometimes things work out in the end...

You know, now that I have had time to think about it, I think I would ask him to go for a ride into eternity with me, this way, I won't get stuck again in a different realm, separate from him. Being aware means knowing everything, being concious of everything, here and there, good and evil, the whole nine yards. I would ask my Prince to come with me back in time to relieve the good old days. Here is evil, he is surrounded by well to do people, he is "different" because he is famous, this world with its material vanities and stuff, keeps him sort of "cornered", no you can't Prince, no you can't Bono, Realm is a .........., but its all false, Realm is Bono's daisy. Realm wishes to meet Mr. Hewsen, who is the realm Prince, who also has the persona of Bono, a "VERY PUBLIC FIGURE", but, he is mainly just a man for Realm, A true Prince, without regard to his "status" in this world, he is of flesh and blood as the rest of us, and Realm understands the difference, but nothing ever be like meeting The Prince in person. That is my zootopian friends, Realm's ultimate desire, to meet this MAN who is a light, who extends life and gives the dead soul some of his energy and so it shall continue to exist as it should. Free from negative energies overcoming it or controlling it.

I would ask my Prince to close his eyes, hold my hands and go with me back in time for a few days. To relieve the past which was an enchanted existence.
