iT'S OFFICIAL U2 + DOWN UNDER (UPDATED 8/30/2010 6 pm PST)

In general I have no problem with people who sell their tickets on auction sites - as long as they start at price that covers their cost of ticket, booking fees and auction success fees and let it run, and the market dictating price. However this is an insult to the fan who will miss out in public sale -EDITED EDITED EDITED  mad.gif

I really hope no one buys these tickets off him, and a lot of people give him a serve about ethics.

HOLA, we dont allow those links, even if it is for "look at what this jerk is doing" examples - Baja

Sorry Baja was not aware of that rule, no harm intended

Not a problem, basically no ebay, third party ticket sellers, download, file sharing or pictures of the bands families, allowed, & keep it clean (No nudity) - Baja

I don't have a problem with it either ... in general. I do have a problem with 'fans' selling presale tickets on auction sites. It makes a mockery of what fan club membership is all about.

Okay, I'm just going to put this out there ... this isn't a criticism of U2 themselves, just an observation.

A few months ago another major band announced a tour of Australia, Metallica. Sure, not comparing apples and apples, but they are a band with a huge fan base. There was opportunity to join the fan club ahead of the ticket sales and that got you a code and invite to the presale. The Metallica presale was simple, if you were in the club you got a code. You were only allowed 4 tix per concert (I think) and there was a clear understanding that people buying more than their entitlement would have their tickets cancelled. Presale day for my city came around and it was simply a matter of logging into Ticketek with the code. You could go in and out as many times as you liked, select and cancel and select tickets to your heart's content until you got what you wanted. No groups getting all the good tickets, no codes not working, no forums getting filled with people complaining. Basically you were in fan club, you got good tickets. When extra dates were set, the fan club all got emails and invited to a presale of the new date, and were able to get good tickets using the same (still working) code. The whole thing was smooth and easy.

We'll it's fair to say the guy is not really a fan, as he is ripping off other fans, and also depriving a fan from getting tickets at face value when tickets go on public sale.

Trouble is ticket scalping is such a difficult thing to police. I don't think making it harder for fans to buy tickets is the answer. It should be very difficult to sell the things at profit, not to buy them.

or use the Contact Us form found in the top right of HELP PAGE

For those that contact me via the other thread, please be aware you need to contact Customer Service (CS) yourselves, those that have been resolved/re-set have made contact directly with customer service. I have been asked to not send names in, as it bypasses the official CS route, and can create some issues with codes being doubly re-set.

A quick reminder that your code if for ONE transaction for ONE show, for ONE location, on ONE date, for up to 4 (FOUR) tickets of the SAME TYPE. You cannot mix types of tickets. once you purchase a type of tickeet, your code is considered used, even if you only purchased one ticket. Also, some people are having issues with getting expensive seats when they input their code instead of another pricing level, you also need to contact customer service to complete your purchase.

At this time, this is about as much as I can do. I apologize for the delay's, and want you to know we will be analyzing what happen so it does not happen again (ever).

Again, please contact CS of the ticketing agency directly.

Thank you all for your patience and for recognizing that the moderators are NOT CS and are doing their best to help you all

Respectfully

Baja

Thanks Baja.

That's good to hear.

My guess would be something to tdo with the fact that the Tour was announced on the 22nd August and the pre-sale started only 4 days later on the 26th August.

Everyone was 'caught out', systems weren't ready, emails not received in time, confusion over what could be bought with not enough time to ask and answer questions.

Add to that desperate fans, just trying to get tickets and it was panic stations.

Can't speak for everyone, but I do hope that everyone appreciates the efforts you have been making to help sort all this out. Thanks Baja.
