larry is the first to say he is not the most technical drummer and this list is full of flash gits,, if it was drummers who play with passion and commitment he would be no 1.But have to say big up to neil peart he is amazing ,technical and passion the complete package.

I'm just wondering, WHY THE FUCK ISN'T DAVE GROHL AT NUMBER 1?! And Ringo Starr shoudln't be in. Nothing creative, apart from his invention of 'The Drummer As The Idiot'!

I love Dave Grohl and he is incredibly talented but he isn't besting Neil Peart from Rush for the #1 spot. Sorry, not gonna happen. Though personally, I would prefer to see John Bonham in that #1 spot instead. I totally echo your sentiments on the inclusion of Ringo Starr on that list.

This list doesn't even have great such as Peter Criss, Eric Singer, Eric Carr, and Roger Taylor which ticks me off since there are talented drummers in other genres of music too.
This is just a list of Rock drummers, no other genres.  If others were included I'd add numero uno Gene Krupa, he pretty much invented modern drumming with the drum kit.   Numero dos, Buddy Rich, actually IMO Gene and Buddy are tied for Numero Uno.

A great drummer site http://www.drummerworld.com/

I would put John Bonham "Bonzo" as #1 for ROCK drummer (damn drugs).  Doesn't get much better then this http://www.drummerworld.com/Videos/johnbonhammobidickrah70.html and this

http://www.drummerworld.com/Videos/johnbonhamrockandroll79.html and of course When the Levee Breaks!

I'm so glad I saw Zep live before it all ended and I miss the drum solos of the 60s and 70s.

Many drummers do we have, but ONE STANDS OUT like lightning, straight to the beating heart. Thats because, I felt Larry's energy during the last concert, the power of Larry and his drum walking around the stage all alone, by himself, it gave me the chills. I don't imagine Larry knows the power he has when he is surrounded by those who appreciate the love he puts on his work. God bless Larry and his family. The best drummer of them all.  Now, for guitar, there is Edge and Keith Richards from the Rolling Stones. One is an Angel with a harp, the other an angel with Fire.

Probably something relating to the fact that's there's truckloads of better drummers!

Dave Lombardo, Tim Alexander, Josh Freese, Joey Castilo, Mike Bordin, Jon Theodore and Gene "The Atomic Clock" Hoglan are all IMO, much more accomplished rock drummers than Mr Grohl.

As for Larry, he'd certainly win the no.1 spot in the 100 most handsome rock drummers list, and his metronomic/ military band style is invaluable to U2s sound, and is oft imitated, but from a technical point of view he doesn't come close to many on the list.

It's similar to Edge really.  His style is unique and amazing etc etc, but there's many "better" guitarists out there from a technical POV.

That's not to discount the fact that Larry and Edge are my favourite drummer and guitarist!
