Bono Hitchhiked!

Recommended Posts

Talk about good karma. U2 frontman Bono, famous not only for his music but for his charity, got a little help yesterday while hitchhiking in the pouring rain in Canada.

According to the Edmonton Journal, Canadian ice hockey player Gilbert Brule was being driven by his girlfriend on the way to take their German Shepherd for a walk when they spotted the singer and his assistant. Naturally, his girlfriend didn't believe that the world famous singer would be hitchhiking.

"I didn't want to stop, but they waved and [Gilbert] yelled: 'That's Bono,'" Gilbert's girlfriend Kelsey Nichols told the Edmonton Journal.

But it, indeed, was the singer. Bono and his assistant had been out on a walk when it started to rain, and luckily, Brule got his girlfriend to turn around to lend them a ride.

The generous gesture scored the couple two free tickets and backstage passes to U2's concert that evening in Edmonton and a shout-out from Bono on stage.

"I like ice hockey because people who play ice hockey are the kind of people who pick up hitchhikers," Bono told fans. "I know this from personal experience because I was hitchhiking in Vancouver just yesterday."

This is an hilarious story, one more reason why I love Bono!
