Blow your house down is going to be a single....

U2 has released a single to help support this week's 20th anniversary release of Achtung Baby. "Blow Your House Down," a track that appears on the 2CD, Super Deluxe and Uber Deluxe versions of Achtung Baby, was sent to North American radio stations as a digital download last week. We don't know the exact date, but a source in radio tells us it was before Halloween. The song is already getting some airplay on Classic Rock and Triple-A (Adult Album Alternative) stations, too.

Releasing a single isn't a huge surprise, but the choice of "Blow Your House Down" is. Bono had previously mentioned that he was pushing to get "Even Better Than The Real Thing (Fish Out Of Water Remix)" released as the single supporting Achtung Baby.

I'd have just been happy with the tweaked album, kindergarten baby and a disc or two of unaltered achtung baby demos based around the leaked studio tapes.  The super deluxe and uber are great for people who want everything or someone who doesn't have it all already.  i'm not complaining because I love 'Down All the Days', 'Oh Berlin', 'Kindergarten Baby' and one or two remixes that I don't already have.

But I'm listening to the original leaked bootleg studio material at the moment on three metal C90s I have that I've transfered to CD and the some of the material on here is just so, so amazing and really should have made this re-release.wink.gif

I concur.

I really love this set.

Believe it or not, the first thing I put in was Zooropa. I'd say - though I don't expect it at all - the door is still open for a future independent re-release of Zooropa. I was listening to see if they'd snuck the at least slightly different pre-release version in for us that they talked about in interviews at the time, so there's that and at least a couple essential remixes (Daddy's Gonna Pay and Numb Perfectos) that they could collect together if they felt like it. I'd be happy if they did, but I'm not gonna cry if they don't, unless of course crying is what it'd take to get them to do so <g>

Kindergarten - revelatory and awesome. A solid album in it's own right, that I'll listen to frequently, with some of the tracks at par with or more interesting to me than the "more perfect" grown-up versions (e.g., Wild Horses). Other bands would have stopped when they got to this point. Basically all sorts of developmental differences that make it a joy to listen to. Favorite at the moment may be UV with Edge almost holographic (scatter of light) and Adam and Larry more to the front and is that Edge singing a clear complete "Ultraviolet light" in there?

I'm still left wondering if there's a "sexy saucy mix" or "saucy sexy mix" of Even Better Than the Real Thing, but I can cope with existential questions <g>

Just learnt from my missus in Germany that my Uber is box no. 7936, add that with my litho 186/250, I'm a happy manroll.gif Roll on next year when I am back home to get my hands on it (and my missus LOLgrin.gif)
LOL! Where did you order your Uber from? Did you get yours from the Universal Music store? I'm assuming you did because you mention the litho (which based on what I've read is not available unless you buy from the UM store?).

My Uber arrived this morning from Amazon UK (but has obviously come via Universal Germany given the green "FSK 12" sticker on the front of the one of the magnetic tiles), I got Uber box number 4711, which is lower than yours. I haven't been through all the box contents yet, although I doubt a litho is in there.

is this documentary shown on Showtime and BBC the same version?  i am reading that the BBC version is the unedited one, while the one released on dvd has been edited.  Can I catch the same BBC version on showtime?

I haven't got a copy of the super deluxe edition yet (I'm asking for it for my birthday next week) but from what I hear, that is the case.

Yes indeed I did get my UD from Universal, as far as I know as well, it is the only place to get the litho - that puppy will be getting framed when I get homesmile.gif

My missus said it was packed flat inbetween my 4LP Box set and the UD, which was thoughtful....

It seems like too much has been put into making look nice rather than the sounds they made.

Oh Berlin is brilliant!

She's gonna blow your house down- great achtung music but bono of 2011 vocals, makes it into a vertigo hit, elevation style or boots stomper....but it's still good...

Heaven and hell.....too many lyrics bono. Would bono from 1989/90 put so many words in? Listen to the hansa boots, both blow your house down and heaven and hell I think are better. And what the fuck are the dooo wooooops about? Horrid U2 moment.....

Down all the days.... I prefer numb,,,,,now we have an Irish sing a long song over numb....

Everybody loves a winner, have to listen again, can't remember it that well......

That's my view on these new songs.....

See I don't agree, Oh berlin is good, not brilliant, but good. She's gonna Burn Your House Down, see, I like current Bono's voice, I don't get why you people are complaining about it, but what ever the song is brilliant. Heaven and Hell has too many lyrics? As opposed to what?  It's a great song even with doo wops, which I agree are a wtf, and yes Bono at 30 would have so many words in it.  Down all the Days is better than Numb. There's one that's an instrumental that sounds like a David Gilmour copy, and Everybody loves a winner I have to listen again.

I also got the Beach boys Smile album boxset last tuesday as well. If I were to compare I'd say Smile was worth the price, Achtung box should've come with more but who cares. U2 didn't have an album that was scrapped and had 44 years of legend tied to it.

I do wish Sky Down had more content in it though.

But I'm not going to fan pick at something I think is perfectly awesome.
