"who the h___ are you to say what we can and can't do"

Uh....It's u2.com telling u what u "can & can't do." (I think it's also just the general, long-established reasonable rules of civilization but....) Also: they are u2.com - & since you're on u2.com...well, I hope u don't also wonder why they can tell u what u "can & can't do" here. That would be a hopeless question to try to address.

"No-one was making Bigwave defend himself over and over.."

No need to take things personally. I was addressing the phenomenon in general - not u personally. I mean the phenomenon of the same types of things being done over & over by some people who can't say they don't know the house rules. And yes, in general, people acting like that has had the effect before of making bigwave have to defend himself to the point of him having to ask people to stop making it about him. I didn't say - or mean - that your question did that in & of itself. & I was glad to see some people say they don't blame the mods. Obviously I don't think people should follow the House Rules just for the sake of the mods & site manager, though - I also happen to generally agree w/them as some other members do. (& despite what someone else said, there are 14 yr olds here & other minors on the site.)

But, my way of thinking on it is: if u can't find a way to write a letter to the site's management or something like that - I mean above the mods & bigwave - to express your difference of opinion w/the House Rules, then I just can't help wondering - why keep making it something the mods & bigwave have to deal with - over & over - when u know it's not going to accomplish anything except giving them a hard time - more unnecessary work - & giving them negative things to have to deal with? (Unless u enjoy that?) Of course, they could speak for themselves on it - or not - anytime they'd like, but the thing is, it's not about that - what I'm saying isn't personal about them - it's just common sense & courtesy, imho. I personally prefer not to give them unnecessary work. But hey, that's just me. I totally, 100% appreciate anyone asking a question to try to understand something. But most of the time it's not asking questions like that. Most of the time, it's not something worded very nicely like Scout took the time to do either (even though my opinion is different from hers on this one thing anyways). Most of the time it's behavior - purposely breaking the u2.com rules, which, imho, is usually just an immature thing to do. Sorry, but that's just how I feel about that. Please don't assume that I feel personally negative towards people whose behavior I disagree with sometimes, either. Also, I personally have never reported anyone for anything they've ever done or said, so don't think that that's where I'm coming from, either. But most sites would not have put up with purposeful, repeated breaking of rules since it's unacceptable to keep breaking rules over & over on purpose & apparently expect there should never be consequences. I'm not the only member who thinks & feels this way. And obviously the people who run the site agree, too. And I can only imagine the band agrees, too, since - after all - this is their site - & these are the rules on their site. So...I'm just sayin'.

P.S. Thanks for being nice enough to let me know if u think I'd appreciate knowing I'm mispronouncing something. But since I don't say "zoo TOP ee uh" - but I say "zoo TOPE ee uh" - then I say zootope - like some others do. If I say tomayto & u say tomahto - well, if there were an engagement here, u could just call the whole thing off. ;)

ha ha ha yer talking pish with regards to taking things personally but you now try and hide behind the old " I was speaking generically" garbage why not just 'fess up and say it was aimed towards me, I make no bones about this I think you are a troll plain and simple you remind me of 2 people who used to be on the Zoo Sterling Wright (amongst many other names she used) and Ultravioletway 14 both really bloody awful people.

And you are banging on about rules being broken....were you not the one who asked me if I had been abused as a child???....Im of the opinion there may be a wee rule break there so before you preach keep yourself in check.

Anyone who hates reading - if u wanna skip this one, feel free to. You're excused. ;)  (1 reason it was good to have the blogs, btw.) This is for people who enjoy human psychology. I love people, so I like trying to understand why they feel the way they do. It has to do w/something BigWave mentioned when he said "this has come up before many times in the zoo and those who posted it again recently are aware that we have asked before it doesn't get posted, yet like to cause a stir and post it regardless just for that reason I suspect."

I literally think - & I say this sincerely, w/no venom or judgement towards ANYone - I think the "stir" that just a couple of people "like to cause" sometimes is possibly their Fix. Literally. (Yes - I mean physically - as in: addiction.) And even though I don't think there's such a thing as a good addiction (since it means being a slave to something), it's not my point. My point is they could also stand to realize: there are people who love fun as much as they do but have their own idea of fun - & don't need that particular fix or see the point in it. It's like comparing apples & oranges. Just different ideas of fun.

Also, I think there are always fans 4ever hoping that the topmost 'higher ups' at u2.com - BonoLarryEdge&Adam - bono_happy.gifedge_happy.giflarry_happy.gifadam_happy.gif - will actually, literally be in touch w/them somehow - & that's part of the feeling or psychology of taking things personally - taking it to heart - if they feel in any way that they're being treated impersonally. I think someone compared U2 negatively to another band where band members walked out into the audience. I understood the desire for more U2 personal content. We're all here because we love U2 (in general).

But I think people shouldn't take things personally or let it get to their heart. It's just a website. ( :o Oh no she didn't.) You'd think that only teenagers would expect a band to be giving them a perpetual party every single day of the year - including at their website. Here we are now 3120.gif- ENTERTAIN US!19.gif  ADHD? I know I'm not the only 1 who realizes it's expecting too much from a band to make their website 100% exactly everything that every member would choose. Also: it's just their website - not a concert. U2 does so much for its audience & I think they do a fabulous job of having the stage extend out into the audience & having a 360-degree screen so there's not a bad seat in the house, etc. No one in our world gets everything they want. Dictators of entire nations don't. No one does. We all live w/other people & have to balance our wants & needs & ways of seeing things w/theirs. Many of u are creative people. Make some fun! So while you're in the process, u need to put an asterisk in the F word instead of a 'u' - so what? Waaaaaahhh. (Want some cheese w/that...oh nevermind.)  SNAP OUT OF IT! Be grownups! And Party! No one gets everything, but everyone gets something. It's a balance. I did agree w/whoever said basically: give us more exclusive band content & band news.

No one is a stronger advocate of freedom of speech than I am. But u can't yell 'fire' in a crowded theater if there's no fire. Or advocate terrorism. Etc. Everything gets guidelines in life. I used to speak the way Scout does about it here. But months ago I realized: it's not as if u2.com is a news outlet like CNN which needs to be totally free to report on things like government corruption, etc. If the govm't tried to stop that, that would be censorship. & if mods took sides in debates by applying Terms & Conditions unequally to different people, that would be wrong, too. But that's not what's happening. So what's the big crucial principal worth causing a stir about? Supposedly a 'need' to swear & put naked pics here(?) - otherwise, it's supposedly impossible to have fun? Someone said there are no 14-yr-olds on the site. But of course there are. I've spoken w/ a few teens myself here. Grownups are always reminding kids (since children need to be reminded) that the world is not an anything-goes place. That's because it's not. It's not anarchy - it's civilization. It's not really asking too much to expect grownups to show they can follow rules, too.

I'm an activist - & just about the biggest issue I'm passionate about is the fact millions of my fellow countrymen & people in other democracies are patronizing someplace like China - which truly does not allow freedom of speech. Why do we allow that? How can people in good conscience take part in that govm't profiting off of putting people in prison for speaking? In a way, it's like patronizing slavery. (Shout-out to PacoBear :) : I mean 'patronizing' as in 'being a customer of.') Anyways, at least in the forums the software allows mods to delete just a single comment or photo. In the blogs as they were, the problem was that an entire blog would have to be deleted just because of 1 comment left on it, which was not fair to the composer of the blog if they weren't the one swearing or whatever. At least now no one is being penalized for something someone else did against the rules. Of course it would be great to bring the blogs back w/that glitch smoothed out. Peace.
