I was just looking about and came across this.

http://www.achtungbaby.net.au

its a U2 tribute band based out of Australia. they actually do a good job of the website so I watched their video. It was a bit funny since its almost like watching a real-life cartoon. Each person performing while acting out the mannerisms of U2.  made me laugh.

I have never actually seen a tribute band before,  just interested in what others think about them.

They're OK.  Not bad.  I'd probably go and see them.

But I know what you mean...that feeling you have and not sure about seeing a U2 tribute band show...I had that feeling back 10 years ago in 2003.  That's when I saw and heard my very first U2 tribute band.  I was totally hooked after that.  U2 tribute shows does help in between tours.  We always say we can't wait to "get our U2 fix on!"

First it was a band called Exit - an all girl tribute mind you! - they were awesome!  And too they've even played on U2's stage...have a listen...

After that I looked at tribute shows totally different.  Yeah, the sound and power doesn't come across the video like it does live.  When you're in a packed house with only U2 fans, you totally forget it's not the real thing, and then it becomes about the music.  It's freakin' awesome when the tribute is really good like these guys.

Actually, after seeing lots of U2 tribute bands this one is my favorite...the lead singer is Jason and hearing his voice live I thought I was going to shit my pants...my jaw fell during soundcheck when I first heard this guy...this is L.A.vation out of L.A....
