Hi Tracy, this happened to me last year when I tried to renew. It looks like the same thing will happen again. I need to renew but only see the option of upgrading. Granted I may be past my date this year but only just. Last year I had to pay $50 instead of $40. After numerous e-mails and such I was told that it was impossible to reimburse me for the $10. Even though I have been a member forever. I really don't want to have this issue again, This website used to be really fun but now I only renew for the presale codes. Sad but true.

Just checked my profile and it says I've been a member since 2009!! That is about 10 years off..... UGH

In 2009 everyone's 'join date' was reset in the move to the new platform at that time I believe, BUT I do think records are kept of members who joined long before that date, for instance for the last tour presales, those records must have been used to assign everyone their status for the presale (Horizon, Breathe etc).

Been a long time since I posted in here and my experience today, just confirms even more my reasoning why I don't.

U2...listen to your fans.  You have a shitty website and a shitty company who manages your website.  I have tried approximately 15 times today to renew my membership as today is the last day.  I triple and quadrupled checked my address, credit card number, etc., etc.  I am no dumb ass as I am responsible for helping to raise over $90 million and conduct major fundraising events in Atlanta, GA for a MAJOR non profit.  I know how to maneuver a website to make a purchase.

I called your "contact us" to only be told it wasn't their problem (yes, twice) and was told it was my credit card company. Hence, I called my cc company and they do not show "one" charge being declined...NOTHING even being attempted and I have tried from 4 different computers now and even called a friend out of state to have him try to renew with a different credit card and same message..  It is u2.com's website. Period. Oh,and did I mention that when I spoke with fanfire/LiveNation over the phone, I asked them..."can I please renew over the phone?"...only to be told..."we don't take renewals over the phone".  What f*cking planet was I dealing with that I can't make a purchase over the phone?!

U2...get in touch with your fans.  Bono, while I have helped to give you a "good life", can you in return hire people that you personally know to handle your website?  Guess u are so rich now, you don't need my membership renewal fee anymore. And why do I continue to renew?  Because U2.com seems to give priority to those who have been members longer (not that this makes me or anyone else bigger/more devoted fan) and I don't want to lose that when presales come around..

Thank you,

"Unvalued U2.com member since 2005"

Hi Tracy

sorry to hear you have had problems with renewing - I have escalated this issue and you should be hearing from someone to resolve it very soon. Since we moved across to this new platform we have seen very few subscription problems, and any that have been raised have been sorted out quickly, so please do update here when you can, thanks

BW

BigWave...now shows I am a U2.com Free Member :(.  Friday was the last day for my renewal..hence why I tried to renew (multiple times).  My email documents that I tried to renew before it expired and I requested on the phone with LiveNation/Fanfire that they please notate my account to show that I tried.

BigWave..okay, now it shows my membership has renewed and it expires July 15, 2014...I have received notification from LiveNation other, "we have received your response"..."please make sure you are entering the correct phone number".  Which of course I did that,.

BW, my question is now...I was never charged...I just checked my bank statement to double check.  I WANT to pay for membership because I want the gift!  While I am thrilled that my subscription is renewed, again, no notification and I am assuming no membership gift.  Will you pls. advise what you think I should do next?

Thank you.

They better friggin had keep those records seeing as i've been on here since 2004.

Gotta agree with tracy though,it just doesn't feel in here anymore that it's in any way shape or form connected with U2.At least after the vertigo ticket fiasco we had the infamous larry letter but it's long sonce been a livenation fuck up of a website.

Per Gibbo's request...(and I quote, "it will fall on deaf ears")...But I will do it because just like being active in our communities, voting, etc., etc., we have a responsibility to "do" and "speak up" for by little acts are great things accomplished.

I belong to several fan club websites for various artists like most of us do (or at least I hope U2 is not the only band you listen to :)).

First let me state, that at one time I ADORED this place...and ADORE is an understatement.  This place will ALWAYS hold a special place for me as I have by far met the best friends I could ever ask for.  So U2.com, I thank you for the era when this place was so inviting to cultivate friendships among the greatest band in the world.  But......

U2, while you are so big, I understand (as most of us do) while you cannot micro manage every detail of your empire, certainly in your grasp of folks, you have people you can hire and run this place.  People who love U2 like we do.  People who have a vested interest. People who understand the necessity of having a U2 community where we can come and have a meeting place, one where we could speak more freely (but still with some bounaries), and one that was easier to maneuver. I mean are all these different forums/areas or whatever you call it really necessary???  I guess if the hundreds of thousands of fans that are members here would come in and chat, maybe it would be necessary...but really it is not.  U2, and speaking to The Edge now ;) , go take a look at your buddy's web site...

Jack White... www.thirdmanrecords.com

While I understand Jack does not have the magnitude of fans, he still has a good bit worldwide and manages various artists and has them on his website as well at Third Man Records in Nashville, TN.  Because Jack's site is affiliated with "his" name and anything affiliated with his name, he runs out of "his empire" in Nashville and is personally responsible for.  And as shy and awkward as Jack can be at times, he understands the importance of keeping in touch with his fans and will come on and chat with us.  The folks that run his place, they personally know Jack, hence, they are connected with Jack and he with them and they in turn, Jack and his employees, provide a well run website with the fan, the consumer.  These folks have a vested interest in Jack and understand that "we, the fan" give them a pay check.  I have had a couple of incidents where I had to call and/or email.  And I cannot tell you how nice it was to have a personal touch...even so much that I had lost my receipts for some RARE vinyls (and anyone who knows anything about Jack White, knows that he is a master mind at creating RARE vinyls) and when I stopped in to Jack's store in Nashville, TN to explain that I had lost my receipt for this vinyl (which I had purchased two), the lovely Third Man employee says for me not to worry, they knew/recognized me and believed me (this would never happen with LiveNation).  My point is, the CONNECTION to the artist and the fan.  Live Nation CANNOT provide this.  But no worries, there are enough U2 folks that U2 knows, that could run this place that have the "vested" interest.  While there will always be issues, it would be a HUGE start, in fact, probably the remedy.

U2, one day someone will replace you but WE will always be here.  We WANT to come back here like we used to.

Tracy

And that in a nutshell is what this place COULD have been like.

OK Tracy, great that you now are re-subbed, thanks for posting update on that.

By default you should receive the gift with a couple of weeks, there is a drop-down menu topic 'Bundle Membership Shipping  Question / Status on the Help page for any queries relating to that.
