I got a new used car.  It was a good deal. On the drive home, the squealer on the front brake started screeching.  (of course it did)   I'm laughing now but that is a sound from hell when driving a newly purchased used vehicle home.  🙈

I just need to replace the front pads so it's only thirty bucks or so. I'm doing with a bud on Friday.  It has a Bose sound system.  That is a huge bonus, which I was not expecting.  I just went six (or more) years with no radio in my old car.  I blasted U2 on a long ride home and they sounded amazing.

Our library got a big delivery today - three boxes of Brand. New. Books  :D  One box of children's books, one box of Teen books and a final box of books for adults.

And I got to spend an hour putting stickers on every single one of them. Which is quite therapeutic as well as fun. The books are part of the "Reading Well" campaign which aims to help people who are going through mental health problems or other difficult circumstances, so hopefully they will be useful.

The children's and teen books include some lovely bright front covers which will hopefully grab people's attention. And it just felt so good to have the delivery and feel part of things again. It can sometimes feel like our little community library gets left out of things or forgotten about, so it's good to know that we are included in this scheme to try and improve mental health and wellbeing in the community.

I tested positive for coronavirus even though I haven't taken my mask off when meeting someone. I know it's not good news, but the good side of it is that the fever is over and I don't have sore legs anymore. :)

Hopefully you'll be recovered soon. There have been cases of people catching it even though they take all precautions - especially with the Delta variant, which is significantly more contagious than other forms - especially if you've only had one dose of vaccine. You are doing your best to be safe and hopefully wearing a mask means you didn't spread it to anyone else.

Over here, we've got politicians who are travelling all over the place, including to red-list countries with lots of cases, and then not bothering to quarantine at all

It must be the Delta variant. It has spread through the country. I usually wear 2 or 3 antiviral masks and a pair of glasses... Sometimes even a faceshield. Unbelievable!

Yes, you were so good about taking the virus seriously too. I'm sorry that it is still spreading so freely in Brazil. It's still spreading well in sections of the country here too. We will all get past this - just keep faith.

Heal up ASAP! 🍀🍀🍀

I've been asked to contribute to another local radio programme :)

It's with the same presenter that I previously spoke to about the impact of Covid conspiracy theories - he covers all sorts of topics on his show. He's putting together a programme about music and the ways that it can help our mental health and, after I shared a story on social media, he's asked me to go on the show to talk about it. Music has helped me enormously, from making friends in the U2 community to the life-changing impact of my interest in Spanish-language music.

Now I just have to hope it's not on a morning when I'm at the library.

I hope you are continuing to get well.  I'll be thinking of you and sending positive vibes.

We have power, where many around us do not.  A big storm front moved through last night and knocked out power to 225,000 (and rising) homes. It's a mess.  A huge tree, about half a block from me, got split by a bolt of lightning. (sigh)  Currently, 85,000 homes still have no power.  It's hot and very humid.  I'm thankful we are not one of them.

Also, I mentioned an Irish Terrier named Poitin.  She is my dog's daughter.  She was finally artificially inseminated.  I asked her owner if the Irish moonshine affected the poor guy's performance.  How'd you like to perform sexually with a bunch of experts standing and watching?    haha    Poitin will be having puppies.

Two things today: I was able to order two CDs to add to my small, but growing collection of Laura Pausini albums. Each of her albums is released in both an Italian and a Spanish version, which is great for my language-learning as well as her music being enjoyable to listen to. Sadly these two are not a matching pair, but I'm happy to have found them from a reputable UK website at a reasonable price as I'm often complaining about the difficulty of finding non-English-language music over here.

The second thing is related: I've pretty much filled up my existing stereo/CD rack now and was worrying about storage for these new purchases. My Dad volunteers at a charity shop which specialises in selling furniture - and he told me that they have a CD cabinet in stock. Luckily, the shop still had it when he went back in - and we managed to fit it into our car - so now I have a nice tall unit with *loads* of space for CDs :D

Although it'll play havoc with my nice neat alphabetical order
