Subscriber padawanbeck84 518 Posted January 11, 2016 Subscriber Share Posted January 11, 2016 That's great, Beck. So, spill the beans.. at least give us a clue what you're up to. Well, in the last year and a half, I've volunteered at 5 local archaeology digs and in 2015 I started volunteering two days a week at a local museum, helping out in their archives. I've also been involved in a local arts group, leading Creative Writing workshops, but it's become clear to me that, as much as I like art and writing, I've enjoyed the museum work and digs a lot more and archaeology is the path I really want to follow. So now I'm making enquiries with a number of universities about moving on to a full Archaeology degree once I finish my Open University Humanities degree next year. My boss at the museum archives has been very helpful with not only recommending unis, but also helping me find specialist job websites for museum and archaeological work so I can try and move from volunteer archaeologist to paid archaeologist-in-training I'm also having a clear-out of my room. I've realised that a) I don't need a lot of the stuff I've been collecting over the years and if I can sell at least some of it, that can help fund my studies. I think I have a tendency to hoard things as kind of a comfort blanket. But I don't need to do that any more. At the grand old age of 31, I've finally worked out what I want to do with my life! Subscriber hestia 57 Posted January 11, 2016 Subscriber Share Posted January 11, 2016 Sounds great Beck. Interesting & fun, too. I'm working on clearing things out, as I will be moving to a new apartment in this next year.

bluegrace 18
Being home on sick leave (not great) and getting flowers from work. Also my mobile phone ceased to work, and the new one was easy as peas to install and use. I'm almost feeling good right now
Subscriber padawanbeck84 518 Posted January 25, 2016 Subscriber Share Posted January 25, 2016 I've had a fun day so far today. A trip to a local toy shop ended up with me re-arranging the Star Wars section to make sure all the Finns and Poes were sat next to each other. Because let's face it, once you've seen TFA, you can't help shipping them And at least I've started typing up my latest assignment. It's a mess which will probably need another extension, but at least I'm making progress with it.

Subscriber padawanbeck84 518 Posted January 29, 2016 Subscriber Share Posted January 29, 2016 Both of the people I asked about giving references have said yes, so I have just completed filling in my job application and am about to send it off!
Subscriber peterferris8 647 Posted January 30, 2016 Subscriber Share Posted January 30, 2016 Not really something that happened today, but I watched The Revenant last night and it was brilliant. If Leonardo DiCaprio doesn't get an Oscar for THAT performance, governments will be overthrown!

As much as I'm cheering for Michael Fassbender to win, it would be good to see Leo finally get his hands on the statue.
