A Soaring Sound

Recommended Posts

Higher

The staircase in my mind

has taken many years to climb, cobwebs brushed away

from places I no longer stay,

I have sifted and sorted through the remains, and gone to great pains,

reshuffled the deck, got a handle on the wildcard, covered up the facade.

Loose change in my pockets, where once before would slip through a hole and onto the floor.

fading in and out no more, replaced by a clarity as never before.

This is the sound and sight of a man who no longer wears a shroud, and plays his own hand.

He takes a leaf out of your book, friend or foe, King or crook.

But with his own loving touch, he gives it a swagger, and pulls out the dagger,

reshaping the words and the ways of the weary, standing alongside them and speaking to them dearly.

Being a constant in the presence of those who are yet to see, and be open to close.

This moment in time will recede and then recline, but my never ceasing desire to win the battle for you and I my friend will never confine.

I will not be held hostage to my heart, It is there for me and you, and what pumps through it can rescue you too.

Your Best Move Or Mine

I scan the passing clouds

for an answer to the riddle,

Then I stop kidding myself, for I know your on the fiddle.

There is something unsettled in the air,

I try to pin it down, but get nowhere.

Many moves are in motion in my mind,

putting them in there right places is taking up my time.

With a delicate balance on the tip of the scales

my life is a chessboard, and each piece prevales.

Your sweet smelling roses that you place at my feet

are decaying in the fields that you tender so neat.

I sense your coming, and steady my heart,

what will you serve me up this time round

The trickery and treachery of a doubled over demon, or the surprise of my life that at last we are even.

The scene before me is all too familiar, the props are the same but the cast has changed.

My hope is that it is not deranged.

So here we go again just as before, a leap off the diving board wishing for water and not hard floor.

I have rebuilt my temple and am about to throw it at your mercy once more, take up the leaf I offer at your door.

Camouflage Heart

You wear your colors for all to see,

yet somehow keep them hidden from me.

I believe in a love so strong, you raise your lips to mine and swear it too.

With battle scars of the heart,

can words said between two tanks reinforce to never part.

Is it just me, or should I retreat,

I can,t, I won,t, I have two heavy feet.

They have carried me through a trench or two,

on over the hill and down the valley to you.

For you saw me coming and created a diversion,

Sent all crooked hearts running, and then executed your conversion.

So here we both stand, reshaped into what?

Something more than before, removal of rot.

We both bare our arms, and shake off the shackles of a camouflage heart,

That tour of duty, so long and without beauty has come to an end.

Now our hearts are one, and beat for each other like the best of friends.

Our love stronger now than ever before, we both salute each other,

and are hidden no more.

Timebomb

Well nail me to the cross,

for I am at a loss.

The avenues that I explore are dwindling,

the laws that I uphold, may one day turn to kindling.

For there is a fire in my heart that sleeps in a restless cradle,

it has burned before, and may again ignite.

Why is it that for a man to progress, he must first pick a fight.

He loves the peaceful life, and wants it for his kin.

He tames the devil, and imprisons him within.

Is that beast dead and gone, or can he be resurrected,

please no, not anymore, I have been there too many times before.

When he surfaces the peaceful man disappears,

and what looks back at him then is a serpent with pointy ears.

I plead and plead, for I am in need of a saving grace, complete with equality and a shining face.

Unmask the purpotrators, the ones that hold back,

expose them to the world, and then put them in a sack.

Passing through the passages of time.

Was that you who blew in on the breeze?

going straight through me just as you please.

I am never alone as your presence so eloquently whispers through the trees,

As a storm cloud crosses overhead, you rise to meet it with ease.

It passes me by, but I know it was your intervention that kept me dry.

For he has placed you on my shoulder to watch and to whistle,

a secret sound that my ears can hear through the bracken and thistle.

Surely there cannot be a gift given to man as precious as this.

And I walk with a humble dignity knowing you exist.

Oh Father, put here by the Father of the earth and heaven above,

help me to release all of my love, the strain of the burden that I carry around my neck,

to unite the ones that I see and speak to is weighing me down.

I don't want to drown in a sorrowful land, I only want their hand.

And to be able to stand.

Grant them all potent wisdom, and peace from their plight.

And Father of mine, please keep a watch on me day and night.

A Way or A Wall

Sheets of ice pave the way,

my hands and feet are torn and frayed,

but my love drives me on each and every day.

I know not when, nor how or why, If I could only see you cry,

Then I would know that a heart beats there too, and my goal of freedom could be unlocked by you.

The fence you put up hides you so well, but when I see you on the street, your face I can tell.

I stand before you with my arms outstretched, inviting you in, and your friends you can fetch.

Let,s dine together in a banquet of love, where the table is set by the touch of above.

Take leave of your life and lose yourself to the purity that comes from surrendering to soul saving.

There is no other way I can see the road reshaping.

I have cried, and I have lied, put a man before me who say,s that he hasn,t, and I will tell him to swallow his pride.

None of us walk with clean feet, or wipe each others faces with unsoiled hands, we all get rebuilt, and this removes the guilt.

Time makes us better, we start out not knowing which way to head, like a ship lost at sea with no lighthouse to guide us back to safety.

So I say to you friend, let,s not fight to the bitter end, could we not spend the rest of our years in joyful tears.
