Best album in years.

I liked NLOTH very much although I would be quite happy if I'll Go Crazy had never existed, awful song.  ATYCLB and HTDAAB have some great moments but there have always been things about both albums that bothered me, not enough heart and soul in them, especially after Pop which for me oozed soul from every orifice, U2's most underrated album (by themselves more than anyone it would seem!).

New album is pretty much perfect apart from California which whilst not bad, I wouldn't miss it.

All you have to do is listen to the album, before you listen to people telling you about the album and it is. indeed, Great!

This post is "three chords and the truth" without the three chords. Well said.

For me, Pop was like a ride in a fighter jet. It just grabbed me and took me for a ride. By the time the flight was over and I pulled off the flight helmet, I was like a woken-up dead man. I agree it is sorely underrated.

Funny thing (to me) is that Niall Stokes' book, still entitled "Into the Heart" at the time of release of Pop, said Pop released to some of U2's best critical reception or some such in it. I really thought they had it going on. I would love for them to explore that vein of music once more. There is nothing like the sequence of tracks 1-7 on that record. Just amazing. I wonder if U2 pay too much attention to too many self-important critics?

I think it's a very good album but short of great. The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby are great so can't put it in that bracket. I think the second half of the album is excellent. Least favourite songs are Song For Someone and Iris, not too keen on these 2. The rest of the album is quality.

For all those that wax lyrical about AB - It was ok. It was a departure from Joshua Tree (U2's best ever and complete album), and recieved more plaudits than it should have in my opinion due to the fact that the band just turned a wee corner.

This one.?

Feckin better still....growing tunes from the best band ever.

The songs on this album, whilst of a different hang, are completely joyous and great. In my opinion only of course!

at first it was like achtung baby, what a different sound from U2 as they reinvent themselves. Then after a few laps around, WOW!!!!!!. Great new flavor from the best live band ever and these songs sure sound like they were meant for a live show.
