Paperless tickets - Problem (MERGED)

latest email from Ticketmaster is pretty much the same as yesterday...

"only the card holder and guests can gain entry into the arena.  The card holder must be one of the party attending, and valid photo I.D required.  If you are not able to attend, then your guests will not be allowed entry.  Ticketmaster will gladly re-sell your tickets, then reimburse you the full price you paid, once we have re-sold your tickets. Please refer to full ticket instructions posted on the official U2 site.  We hope you enjoy the show".

Can someone from U2 management sort this please?   I feel like I'm communicating with a corporate robot.

My wife and i live 200 miles from the venue.  My wife bought tickets as a Christmas present.  She will not be attending.  Only myself and my best mate are going.  What is the problem?  I can bring my wife's bank card and statement.  WTF !!

Please someone help.

I got caught up in the pre-sale frenzy and a few days after I bought tickets I realized I cannot go to the show. Any chance I can get a copy of this email so I can tell ticketmaster to re-sell my tickets? I really would like to get these tickets to somebody who would enjoy them. It'd be a shame for the tix to go to waste (getting my money back would be a plus)!

At some point, you should be able to transfer them. At which point, you could find a u2.com member you trust, have them paypal you and then transfer the tickets. Easy.

If they are GA for any dates of MSG/NYC, just message me! ;-)

Worst case, if you "sell" them on ticketmaster.com, you will have no trouble getting face value.

Mate,

I have exactly the same issue......

I live in the UK, and got 2 GA for my girlfriend and her best mate for LA in May !!

It's her dream trip away to see U2, and being the nice guy that I am, I got her these tickets for Christmas.

Joking aside though, she can obviously take my credit card, but our surnames are different, so what happens if she gets to the door, with the credit card, but they won't then let her in due to ID issues ??????

This is a very serious problem that needs to be addressed, and in my opinion, whilst understanding the issues of preventing scampers, this whole ticketless procedure is proving far more trouble than it's worth. Real fans are becoming alienated.

My girlfriend is understandably hesitant to book flights and accommodation half way around the world if she cannot get to see the band play live.

What at first looked like a once in a lifetime trip, could now well become just our worst nightmare.

Somebody at U2 management / Ticketmaster need to start making the right decisions here.

Bigwave - I know you are working very hard on our behalf, it's much appreciated.

I will keep the faith......for now !

Got this eMail off AXS today after send two last week, this is a load of *****, it's pathetic that they won't sort it out or even consider doing anything about it!

My email:

Hi there,

i’ve just been informed by my family that they have bought U2 tickets for me for U2’s next tour, they will be not be attending the concert, but i will be seeing them on the 30th October 2015 at the O2 Arena with a friend and we will bough be standing therefore the ticketless option comes in to play, but i’ve just been informed and found out that the person who bought the tickets must attend and prove that the tickets were bought by them by providing valid ID? Seeing that the tickets weren’t purchased by myself but buy my mother instead (who won’t be able to come down for the concert) will i still be able to gain entry to the concert if i bring her credit card, the emails that prove sale and my own ID to prove that i am her son? Hopefully i’ve got this wrong and everything will be fine, but as you can understand this is a big worry for me.

Thanks in advance

Henry Floyd

Hi there,

Thank you for your email.

When your mother made your purchase, a statement would have appeared stating that the credit card holder MUST be present to can gain entry to the venue along with the other members of their party, the booked could only take place if these terms was agreed to. Therefore you will not be able to gain entry without your mother even if she gave you the card as it is not going to match with your photo ID.

Kind Regards,

Sarah

Thanks!

Same corporate crap i receive.   Like i said in my original post, my wife bought my tickets as a Christmas present for me.  My wife will not be attending.

Yes i  know there were plenty of T&C's i could of read prior to purchase.  But i chose not to.  I didn't expect to of come across such awful conditions.  I mean if i was booking a holiday to the Lebanon then i would read the T&C's before i booked a flight.  If i choose to go back packing in Iraq i would of course do research before i made my purchase to travel.

I subscribed and paid my $50

My wife booked a U2 ticket.

Didn't read the conditions.

All we want to do is watch U2.

I got tickets for the 2nd night of the phoenix show, so for now no option on trading...

I've just emailed the Glasgow Hydro requesting to speak with the Events Manager.  Hopefully talking to a human who has authority could be beneficial.  I will report back of my findings.

In the meantime 'a massive thank you' for the U2 moderators on here who are sorting this issue out behind the scenes.  Not just for me, but for all other U2 fans struggling with this crap from Ticketmaster.  We are all in it together, and we will win.

Cheers Mod's

I suggest sending an email to venue requesting to speak to their Events Manager.  Start communications and maybe someone on the inside can make a decision.

I understand U2 moderators on here are working hard behind the scenes on this.

Hang in there mate.

Seeing everybody's desperate and honest efforts being responded to in the way that they are by Ticketmaster, it's an absolute disgrace.

We're 5 months out from the Tour, but Ticketmaster seem to have a corporate standpoint from which they will refuse to move !

I really believe that it's U2 management that have to intervene on this one - the notion that I can't use MY paid subscription to give tickets to my girlfriend, it's just beyond my comprehension !

As it happens, I have a ticket on a mates subscription for Red Zone at MSG - for the small matter of $350, all because we couldn't get GA !!!! It's virtually bankrupt me, but we do it because we love U2, and we love what they stand for.

The excitement of RZ tickets is quickly evaporating at the prospect that my girlfriend and her mate cannot attend using tickets that I bought for them.

This just isn't right, and it's not the U2 way.

Management please step in......or Larry, if you happen to be reading through Zootopia at any point before the tour kicks off !

People are getting screwed over !
