Paperless tickets - Problem (MERGED)

Of course you should check w/AXS Sweden, but it sounds like you simply got e-tickets, which are different from CCE/paperless tickets.  This would mean that the Swedish shows (like, e.g., Paris) did not have paperless GA or RZ tickets.  If so, it would mean that AXS is doing different things in different countries (e.g., different from the UK), perhaps pertaining to laws in those countries (?)

This really is a pain. It would be great if they somehow allowed even just a "swap" of tickets or allowed us to release them back into the system if we are unable to go. I don't care to make $$ - just an even swap or release.

I thought I'd add comments but I don't have any solutions.   The U2 show in Vancouver will be my first paperless concert.   I'm lucky enough that I go to enough other concerts that I understand what it's for.   It's to prevent scalping.   You have to scan your credit card, get your stub, and immediately enter the venue.    It gives you nearly no opportunity to resell your tickets to someone else.   I'm all for it and it's one of the few things Ticketmaster does that I agree with.

If they allowed exceptions or situations where they could be transferred or someone else could use them then for every legit person there would be 10 bs'ing the same excuse or using another excuse.

I suppose Ticketmaster needs to explain to people what paperless is a bit more so those that don't routinely go to shows understand it.    I can't crap on ticketmaster for doing it, and they probably make less money for doing so (as they make money from brokers/scalpers getting access to tickets).

You're probably up the creek without a paddle.   The paperless thing is made to be rock solid to prevent scalping (thus no exceptions).

However I did just have a thought.  What happens if your credit card number changes between the time you bought the tickets and the day of the show.   IE if their were fraud or if you lost your card and were concerned the credit card company would issue a card with a new number.   What is TM's policy on that?   Does that create a loophole where you can use that excuse to change the credit card associated with the order?   Could you make a joint credit card account with your wife, have her claim the old one was lost, and a new one issued?  Maybe they could change the CC on the order to the new joint card you opened (try and keep it at the same financial institution as the original card).    Might work.  Try calling TM and see how they address that issue? :)   The more I babble the more I think of loopholes.

Hi all just to update that my Son himself spoke to Ticketmaster and they will not budge plus he heard about someone phoning Glasgow Hydra and they said their hands were tied, only thing I can do is phone the Hydra myself to see what they say and I will update after I do so, has anybody heard anyone else about this and has anyone had any word from Bigwave.

Remember this post is about what you need to enter the gig which is credit card, confirmation and I.D and its about my Son will have all three and my hubby will be there to see him in okay although he won',t be going in and ticketmaster have said in their rules as he still won't be entered as I bought him the ticket for his 21st as I have a disability that prevents me travelling to far and that's why we got him a ticket.

I actually agree with them trying to stop scalpers but this thread started by Paul as he is in same boat as us getting family a ticket and then emailed a week later from ticketmaster that he won't get admitted even though my husband is going to travel all the way up Glasgow with my son and will have all they ask for but say because my husband won't be actually going in the gig my Son cannot !!!!

My Son like me is a genuine U2 fan and has loved the band for a long time and its the 1st chance he has got and I am a long term U2.com subscriber and thought why not get my Son a ticket if I cannot got especially as U2 are only doing London and Glasgow in UK only, if they did say Manchester or Sheffield I would be going with my Son as he goes to University in Huddersfield that area and I am 2hours away and could stay overnight with my Son.

Please, please can anyone on the U2.Com help !!!!!

It would be very much appreciated and a relief to me that I can tell my Son he can go and see one of his favourite band and will have what's needed and my husband will be there with all he needs thanks

This is really starting to smeg me off now, sure it's a great idea but has so many flaws to it! Looks like my mum will have to spend a day in London why me and my mate go see U2, it's just stupid and also quite saddening that there is this much trouble with so many people. :/

I think this paperless thing is a dreadful idea and I'm sad to hear everyones dilemma ... I'm lucky that I have the correct tickets for the shows I am going to ... The best way to combat scalpers is for people simply to not buy tickets over face value - its that easy ... if you pay more than face value then YOU are the problem ... I actually like the odd tout outside the venue ... they can be pretty useful ... I've turned up to loads of gigs and bought tickets off them for less than face value or traded seated tickets for standing etc... it should be made law for tickets not to be sold over face value ... I also think it should be made easier to return tickets to the venue say 30 days before the event to be then given a chance to be resold to the public

Yep guys, still no luck with mine, just first name change, same card, ridiculous.

I really can't see the problem. People on this topic mentioning touting are talking rubbish, the biggest touts around are ticketmaster, what about ticketmaster platinum were the best tickets are kept and prices set at the demand for tickets" so we can give everyone the chance to buy the top tickets" this plus the fact that u2 have priced seating tickets around the 130 mark, which are still available last time I checked. That alone stops secondary sale as who's is going to pay double when you can purchase a better seat through platinum. I think u2 overpriced themselves personally, I'm a massive u2 fan always will be, but I have to admit they not as popular as they think 130 a ticket at that time of year is crazy. It could be really sorted out if they wanted to, but I doubt it will, I mean u2 signed a mega deal with live nation ie ticketmaster, all under the same umbrella. After searching similar problems for other artists they only way they seem to have been sorted is through contacting news papers and TV , then ticketmaster seem to fold. Might have to get a few of us to work together.

Sorry for the rant but getting a bit cheesed off with this.

perhaps just get your husband to go in with the party (of 4 including your son?) - and once inside he can stay, look around, or will be free to leave once everyone else is in the party is safely in the venue.

Hi Bigwave thanks for message, but i don't think you have grasped what I was saying, my Son is not a party of 4 and we were only allowed 2 tickets anyway on the pre-sale and my Son is only one going to Glasgow Hydro.

My husband does not like U2 if he did we would not be having this problem. The card used to pay for the ticket is my husband's as we bought my Son the ticket for his 21st as I cannot go I have explained why on my last post.My husband is taking my son up and when he gets there will hand over I.d, credit card and confirmation, but this is what I keep saying that bloody Ticketmaster sent an email a week after buying the tickets with rules including that even though my husband will be there with all 3 things to get in ticketmaster states my Son will still not be allowed in so your idea of my husband going in can not happen as he will not have a ticket himself.

I'm sorry but this is starting to drive me mad now, stressing me out & I am not supposed to get stressed out as I am in constant pain every day with my disability and all because I bought my Son a ticket from pre-sale because I cannot travel to see U2, I love U2 and always will but I am not happy with the way they are doing this and I have actually just got an email saying my subscription is up for renewal soon, the way I feel at the moment I won't be bothering and I have been a fan member since propaganda magazine days, a long time. My Son is a big fan if U2 and this is his 1st gig.

Is there anyone please in the U2 camp can sort this not just for me but for all others who are having same issue.

When it comes to the gig and they travel all the way up Glasgow about 2hour drive each way and then he is refused entry because to me this has all gone too far and I think there will be many others on the night.

Plus my husband looked on ticketmaster sister site get me in and they ate charging too much money on that site I think he said over £100 for a seated ticket !!!!!

Then all this about trying to stop scalpers, I will applaud any way of stopping scalpers but ticketmaster has very double standards.... Mmmmmmm Wezzer go to the newspapers is this what it might come to !!!!!!

I totally agree Wezza, I am so annoyed as my Son keeps asking me have I managed to sort it out and I have to say no Son not really and all he wants to do is see one of his favourite band because his Mam wants to go but cannot possibly travel to London or Glasgow, I have just heard there has been another show added in London so 5 nights they will play there, U2 I love you all but not everyone can make one end of country to top and no gigs in middle, 1st time in my life I have been very disappointed with U2 :(
