Paperless tickets - Problem (MERGED)

You are likely assured entry to GA using an immediate family member's credit card. Take credit card used for purchase, photo id/signature of credit card holder (a copy would work), and a note with signature matching the photo id signature & credit card. Those 3 signatures match, plus your own photo id for which to note is authorizing permission of use to the wife, husband, son or daughter. The note has to state specifically the family member using the card. The address on the photo id of card holder & the person entering venue should be identical. Same residence.

I went to see Morrissey at the O2 in London which was paperless and all they did was swipe/print and let you in. It's just some part time employee on the turnstile that doesn't care who you are so long as the card swipes.

I purchased 2 tickets for the O2 in the 30th October using my MasterCard. Several months later I was contacted by the provider regarding unauthorised transaction which has results in me being issued a new card with a new number. Great I thought until I remembered that I had purchased my U2 ticket on that card.

I called AXS and the customer service rep said I needed to ring my card provider and ask them to send a letter confirming the change in card numbers and bring it to the show!

I made contact with my card provider who couldn't believe that such a system was being employed and that there could potentially be dozens of people in the same situation. However they were able to send a letter with some security information left off and a copy of the statement that included the transaction.

For further reassurance, I emailed AXS explaining the whole story and included scanned images of the letters from my card provider. I asked if there was anything more that I needed to do to gain an unhindered entry to the O2.

 

They have responded that I have done more than enough, however I'm not convinced that it will be without problems. I just hope it's straight forward by the time I attend.

So in my instance. Swiping the card and having my ID will show that I didn't use this exact card.

I would except I had already cut it up and disposed of it. Hence the run around getting letters.

I think I'll head straight to the box office on the day.

So it's only a matter of days before the tour starts, i still have no idea what's going to happen when i every to London to see U2 with my mothers credit card but no mother! I think i may be fine but it's 50/50.

On the 5th December 2014 my mother (Mrs C Floyd) purchased two tickets for me and my girlfriend as a Christmas preset to go and see U2 live at the O2 in London on the 30th October 2015, she had bought two GA tickets but then found out at a later date that it’s part of a new ‘ticketless entry’ system, which means she would have to attend to let us both in to the event. We live 228 miles away from London because we live in Liverpool, there is no way on this earth that my mother will be able to travel that far just to let me and my girlfriend into the venue. Over the course of the last few months i have sent various emails and i’m just about at the end of my tether with my experience, your ’ticketless’ system just doesn’t work and has affected what i can see up to 20% of people who have bought tickets to see U2. Not only that but arrangements have been made to have time off work for me and my girlfriend and these dates can now not be changed because they are set in stone. I require confirmation that i will not be denied entry when i present the following proof that is listed below….

 

The order confirmation email (which was sent to my email address because my mother used my account but her on credit card).

Order details print out (Which has the credit card information but is booked under my name).

The AXES app on my iPhone which has my account information and order history which proofs that the tickets were bought on my account.

My mothers credit card.

My own credit card.

My mothers passport.

My driving license.

And my birth certificate.

If this is not enough proof well i want this taken further, i am not the only one who is having this problem with this ‘ticketless’ system and we all deserve better than being told that we will be denied entry, even though we all have so much proof that the tickets belong to us, i want this taken to the top.

Hello,

Upon looking at the order, you are the account holder 'Henry Floyd'. So as long as you bring the card used when purchasing the ticket ( your mothers credit card) with your valid ID, that's absolutely fine.

The only time you get deny is if you don't have the credit card with you as it will be the basis of entry.

im just wondering if the swiping of the card is at the time of admitting OR if you swipe to get a ticket/pass/voucher etc. meaning if your mother did go with you, would she go as far as is needed in line until they swipe? is this outside or inside? This would be great if it was outside, so if fans need to swap and buy tickets between each other to go to mulitple nights/cities they could allow their "guest" access without having to enter together.

It is inside. Your scenario would make it just as easy for scalpers to sell tickets. I only did ticketless once in Boston, but you went inside, through security, queued in line, and right where they scan your ticket, they swiped your card instead, and a "stub" with your location/row/seat printed on a small thing on their hip, they handed you the stub, and you entered the venue. It is specifically at the point where it would be awkward for a scalper to do it. I'm in NY, so I don't know if that is unique to us due to our ban on paperless tickets, but you can transfer paperless tickets to other people in advance, which cancels your tickets and reissues them in their name on ticketmaster.com.

i know right. so how can there be all of these GA seats for sale by 3rd party sellers?? how can they possibly get you in the show? im very confused by this.
