CREDIT CARD W/ NEW NUMBER ENTRY

Sorry you had trouble with credit card entry. My experience was very different. The card I used back in Dec was part of a we-suspect-your-card-was-compromised event where the bank canceled my card and issued me a new number. I called Ticketmaster Canada and after some research, they did the same: refunded and reran the transaction on my new number. (Note: When I called Ticketmaster US for the Chicago show, though, they wouldn't -- so that's still to be sorted out. More on that below.) Day of the show, Rodgers Arena staff were very organized; they came through the line an hour before the doors opened and (1) pre-checked bags in line so that it wouldn't slow us down at the door and (2) escorted people whose cards weren't the same as the original purchase to the box office. My husband went with them to make sure and all went fine. The doors opened and we got in no problem (with the exception that the wristbanders were so overwhelmed that that was a slight hang-up). I know it's stressful. I worried all week and especially in line all day whether or not my card would work (basically the scenario you lived; I'm so sorry), but they are doing the best they can. And I appreciate the system trying to keep things fair by cutting out scalpers. For those of you going to future shows, just go to the box office to have it checked yourself as they may not come thru the line looking for you.

TICKET TRANSFERS

That said, it does get tough though if plans change and want to sell or transfer your ticket. Strangers buying tickets from the people next to us in line had to join us in line because the box office wouldn't let them transfer tix, even that day (they said it's because it was a TM transaction). We were all fans and hung out, but they did have to coordinate entering together on the original credit card.

I'm now having to sort it out with a US show and it's not as smooth. I called Ticketmaster US to tell them about the cc number change. They just told me to show up at the venue with copies of all the transactions ... When I asked why they wouldn't do what TM Canada did and just rerun the transaction they said that's not what they do. When I told them I may not be able to go to the show and asked about how to transfer or refund the ticket, they said (1) allowing transfers depends on the venue and (2) they wouldn't refund my ticket because it is "sold out." So I'm either out $80 or I'll have to call them back during a ticket drop and it isn't "sold out" anymore. Hopefully they will be more helpful then.

GA Vancouver was great. There is so much rail to be had, it spreads everyone out. I got in line at 8am and was 2nd row in front of Edge and 5th person from the runway. The father and son behind us joined the line at noon. The people in front of me at the Edge rail had been there since Sunday. It looked like the other GA front liners were in the corners where the runway hits the main stage. Note, I think they allowed a lot more people on the floor the 2nd night as it looked a lot more packed. Maybe the first night they were more conservative with their numbers to see how the crowd would disperse. If you are up against the runway, or at the end of the E stage, you will not be able to see the long runway screens and they play a big part in the experience. Best to do 2 shows: one up-close with the band and another standing back on the floor or with seats with a view of the screens to take it all in. (At LEAST 2 shows, that is ;) )

  • 3 weeks later...

I didn't go all the way to Vancouver to watch TV. So not seeing the screen much didn't really bother me. Being up close was the experience. And the crowd energy behind me and across from me.
