I don't think Pop would be in my top five or top ten list of favorite albums.

It would be higher than No Line On The Horizon,

which has some great songs...it just doesn't work as an album for me.

I think my Top Five albums by U2 would be...

Achtung Baby

The Joshua Tree

Zooropa

Boy

Songs Of Innocence

That last one comes as somewhat of surprise to me, actually.

I just find that I'm putting it on a lot more than I initially figured I would.

I think a slight re-ordering of its contents and the addition of The Crystal Ballroom would make it just a little bit better than it already is.

War and The Unforgettable Fire are honorable mentions...

My thoughts echo this. I really can't see why POP is in some people's top 3 - I can only assume they are yet to listen to the other U2 albums out there!!!  ;)

My top five would be:

The Joshua Tree

Boy

Achtung Baby

How To Dismantle..

Songs Of Innocence

War and Unforgettable Fire are also worthy of a mention, for me too, as is All You Can't Leave Behind - all very good albums.

Yes.

It's strange that I can leave out a record as strong as ATYCLB...

I guess it's just indicative of what a strong field it's in.

I came to it a bit late and a song or two at a time.

It's a special feeling that that records imparts.

I think the chord progression of New York may just be influenced by the coda of the Pixies tune No. 13 Baby.

It's one of the best codas in history,

so good on 'em for using it as a template for creating more magic.

Bono is a massive fan of their Doolitle album,

so I wouldn't be surprised if the influence found its way into at least one tune...
