Subscriber TONY TWARANOVICA Posted January 10, 2017 Subscriber Share Posted January 10, 2017 Any long term fan club member like me. Thirty plus years let member lapse and than when you renewed you got out into second presage group like a new member. So thirty years of paying membership means nothing. And one else out in the cold. Community Moderator Max Tsukino Posted January 10, 2017 Community Moderator Share Posted January 10, 2017 sorry, but nothing much can be done about that - From the FAQ: We do not change your subscription category. Subscriber marcx Posted January 10, 2017 Subscriber Share Posted January 10, 2017 Well the whole point in renewing honsetly is to maintain that position--if you let it lapse than you are n olnger a member....
Subscriber t_judson1972 Posted January 10, 2017 Subscriber Share Posted January 10, 2017 Same boat myself. Paying member since U2.com started and Propaganda before that. Forgot to renew until 12/27/16 and was booted down to a new subscriber pre sale. Emailed and talked to a nice lady who said she would turn it over to a higher up, but doubted anything would happen. Got an email from u2.com basically saying nothing would be done. Certainly it sucks but at the same time it's a bit of a relief because now I don't feel like I have to renew every year to maintain some kind of spot. And after spending lots of $$$ on U2 stuff over the past 30 years it might be nice to save a $50/ year fan club membership every now and then. So good luck to all those who are in the Wire pre-sale group!
Subscriber IceMan1 Posted January 16, 2017 Subscriber Share Posted January 16, 2017 until the band 100% stops touring I will continue to pay.
Subscriber AlanScotland1 Posted January 17, 2017 Subscriber Share Posted January 17, 2017 But is it not easier in Wires group than general sale, so worth the bit extra. Keen to hear experience of Wires group memebers getting tickets
Subscriber jvd Posted January 17, 2017 Subscriber Share Posted January 17, 2017 I sign up for this when a tour comes around. In Wires this time. The first frenzy had me with no buying options, but I kept trying. Then by 11:30am venue time there were tonnes of options. No problem at all. Throughout the day, lots of tickets, particularly GAs, were available. Most lower bowl stuff in Vancouver was sold out, but that wasn't where I was looking. I was looking at upper bowl $100 tickets. Super expensive for up there, but better than $285 in the lower bowl. RedZone was sold out before Wires I believe, not that I was in the market for that anyway. Happy with the experience. Makes me wonder why people wait in line for three days for public onsale tickets when they could just get in on the presale for $50 USD. Which is kind of steep for sure, but if you can afford it, why not?
Subscriber jamesh619 Posted January 17, 2017 Subscriber Share Posted January 17, 2017 I am also a fan club member (since 1984) that had to let the membership lapse when things got financially tough for us. I renewed my membership for the presale and got good seats for Tampa, but not in the Red Zone that I was hoping for. During the public sale I decided to give it another shot - to my amazement, I ended up with 4 Red Zone tickets! I'm a little annoyed that, as a fan club member, I was not able to get these tickets during the presale. Now I need to figure out a way to get rid of my 4 presale tickets while having to deal with this credit card entry system.
