Subscriber Homerj1977 0 Posted January 19, 2017 Subscriber Share Posted January 19, 2017 what's it like taking the train to Twickenham? Say from Waterloo? Insane? Will I even make it back post show? The crowds at Twickenham station were pretty insane after the shows in 2005 - we didn't manage to catch a train until after midnight. Can agree with that! My wife was proper panicking when we were stood near the front of an open train platform and thousands of people behind us, not to mention people properly packed those trains out. We only had to travel one stop before getting off for our hotel. This time we've booked a hotel 20 mins walk away.
Subscriber jonno77 36 Posted January 19, 2017 Subscriber Share Posted January 19, 2017 It's mine and a friends 40th the week the shows are on. I rang her last night and told her me and my better half are taking her to see U2 on the Sunday. She started crying. I told her we got seats near the back so can't wait to see her face when we turn up and in RZ. Going to be a brilliant weekend.

On rugby days they usually run buses from Twickenham into Richmond and beyond - you can then get tubes back into London. I hope they will do the same for U2 so that might be an alternative to the train? xx
Subscriber padawanbeck84 489 Posted January 19, 2017 Subscriber Share Posted January 19, 2017 Just to add a bit more perspective my daughter wants to see Little Mix on July 9th in Southampton, just looked and standing tickets are £86.00 ! Yes 86.00 that's more than U2 ! Sadly I have told her she can't as Mummy and Daddy are watching a real band that day at Twickenham £86??? That's ridiculous - especially for a plastic pop group who might spend half their show miming! I'm sure your daughter will develop a better taste in music as she grows up - maybe you should start making U2 songs mysteriously appear on her music device of choice! Unfortunately there wont be bands around in U2's class in the future.

On previous occasions (including U2 gigs), I've found that the buses into Richmond are a better option than queuing forever for the train. Sure, that only gets you as far as Richmond, but there are more transport options there. If you're feeling energetic, you can even walk to Richmond from the stadium. It's a fair hike, but entirely feasible if you're able-bodied and the weather is OK.

To be fair she does love listening to U2 too, absolutely loves Mysterious Ways and Every Breaking Wave Piano version, just school peer pressure for Little Mix as all her friends are going. Was hoping to take her to U2 but i just can't afford the seat tickets for us all and standing is 14 and over only. So she will have to wait until they eventually play the Isle of Wight Festival or until she is old enough to stand with us in a few years time.
