It's not all about Trump. It's about 2016 as a whole, and how the world is a very different place to when most of the material that may/may now not be on the album was written. They want to make sure what they release is relevant to the state of the world.

Its pathetic frankly (if it is true).

I love the band and the music and as I said in another thread I can just about tolerate Bono's preaching about aids, migrants and Africa I can kind of get that. But the Trump thing is ridiculous.

good points but the search or desire for relevance seems to be some obsession of the band. the bottom line is for some unknown reason they are very very liberal and they have the right to be that way but millions of their fans are conservatives for a reason. i don't see the point of talking about the SoE album for  years and it never coming. they said they would never do a heritage tour and now they are doing a heritage tour. they said they would never endorse a candidate yet they basically did whilst intentionally trying to embarrass the president-elect. and to top it off they can't  release a record until they feel like it matches their pity party? did sanity leave with Paul?

What you wrote is still within limits. Don't worry...

But perhaps we have to remember that while the discussion is encouraged, fights and insults are not - Discuss this and any subject you feel it's worth of the time, but please remain civil when doing it...

I decided to copy and paste and use it for something else.  It did not feel right.  The fact that I even had to ask gave me my answer.  Your recommendation to remember...told me I did the right thing so thank you.

I'm not sure what this thread is about or why it even exists.  AIDS, migrants and Africa?  That sounds like a great title for a novel or perhaps an epic movie or both.  Is that copyrighted?  If not, I'm going to use it somehow for something but I don't see it as preaching.  I see it as a very admirable attempt (and success) to make this a better world.

Let's not forget that Bono was part of convincing George W. Bush to fund AIDS relief in Africa and it has made an incredible difference. It may not be for us, but for millions it means life or death.  My doctor goes to Africa to help eradicate AIDS and crosses borders which are very scary.  He is one of my heroes.  I used two of my tickets for this tour so he could get good seats and see the show with his grandson.  Bono is also one of my heroes because he takes a lot of cheap shots for doing what everyone of us should be doing.  The only difference is he has a much larger and much deserved pulpit from which he can speak.  If you do not like it go get a beer and take a break but don't go after my heroes!   (Please)

From what I can infer; these comments are made because U2 delayed the release of their album?  So what!  Maybe they got better ideas or decided that their points of view were better expressed elsewhere or in a different manner.  Maybe they did it to see how many of us would bite when this thread appeared and write things best saved for later. (Me.)

It is their band.  It is their album.  They have always taken a stand and remained very true to it which is why I love them so very, very much.  AIDS migrants and Africa?  I need to respectfully disagree.  What is wrong with dedicating one's own self to bettering the world?   Isn't it at least part of what this band is all about?  Maybe I'm wrong.  I've been writing all day and need to sign off, go finish one last page and go to bed dreaming of Chicago on June 3, 2017!
