At ONE, part of our mission is working to end extreme poverty by 2030.

In 2020 alone, it could push up to 115 million people into extreme poverty, and even more by 2021.

That’s why to mark the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, we’re looking at how the pandemic is impacting poverty around the world. https://go.one.org/3428FKG

Did you know that even before #COVID19 hit, the world was experiencing a global learning crisis? 90% of children in low-income countries could not read and understand a simple sentence by their 10th birthday. Now, the pandemic is exacerbating this and at its peak, COVID-19 pushed 1.6 billion children out of school.
The (GPE) is dedicated to ensuring quality education in lower-income countries. Since its creation in 2002, GPE has contributed to getting 160 million more children in school. During COVID-19, they disbursed US$500 million in the global education response. This week, they launched their investment case calling for at least US$5 billion between 2021-2025 to ensure every child learns in the classroom.
