Subscriber tan_lejos_tan_cerca 361 Posted December 4, 2020 Author Subscriber Share Posted December 4, 2020 Today marks the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilise support for the dignity, rights, and well-being of persons with disabilities. The global crisis of COVID-19 is deepening pre-existing inequalities, exposing the extent of exclusion and highlighting that work on disability inclusion is imperative. People with disabilities, especially those in institutions, are always the most vulnerable in times of uncertainty. We at CCI will continue to shine a light on their plight and not let them be forgotten during this difficult time. Our ongoing commitment to De-Institutionalisation takes us one step closer to a fully inclusive society, where people with disabilities can be recognised as equals all over the World. Specifically, our Life Skills and Restoration of Rights Programmes, enables children and young adults with disabilities to realise their own potential and helps them to develop the necessary tools to live a fulfilled life as a member of their communities. In fact, for 6 weeks during the pandemic, more than 99% of all news stories did not address gender equality. Women are more vulnerable right now but the news media doesn’t cover it. Subscriber tan_lejos_tan_cerca 361 Posted December 4, 2020 Author Subscriber Share Posted December 4, 2020 https://fb.watch/2ako6G1vgZ/ The #COVID19 pandemic won’t end with just a vaccine, but when everyone, everywhere has access to it. And as the race continues to create a safe and effective vaccine, countries and pharmaceutical companies need to be held accountable for whether they are bringing us closer to or further from that equitable outcome for #COVID19. Our #VaccineAccessTest does just that — it keeps track of countries and companies that are making equitable vaccine distribution a priority and also those that aren’t. Here’s a look at how the #VaccineAccessTest works and how you can help. https://go.one.org/2JH4r38
