Subscriber tan_lejos_tan_cerca Posted October 5, 2021 Author Subscriber Share Posted October 5, 2021 October 5 2021 marks United Nations World Teachers' Day which aims to raise awareness of the importance of the role played by teachers all over the world. Today provides the opportunity to celebrate the teaching profession worldwide, take stock of achievements, and draw attention to the voices of teachers, who are at the heart of efforts to attain the global education target of leaving no one behind. We would like to pay special recognition to the teachers employed by CCI who work tirelessly throughout the year who support vulnerable children and young adults in CCI's care. At Vesnova, teachers employed by CCI support children in building life-skills that will make the eventual transition to independent living easier, through our pioneering Rights Restoration Programme and Life Skills Home. Subscriber tan_lejos_tan_cerca Posted October 9, 2021 Author Subscriber Share Posted October 9, 2021 The #COVID19 pandemic is disproportionately impacting women and girls, and continues to expose long-standing gender inequalities. That’s why ahead of International Day of the Girl, Ghanian gender equality activist Edith Esinam Asamani-Wasie is weighing in on why no girl is too young to start advocating for her rights. “The pandemic did not necessarily create the challenge. It exposed what society pretended did not exist,” she shares. Here’s what she had to say. #IDG2021 https://go.one.org/3Fuojim

Subscriber tan_lejos_tan_cerca Posted October 9, 2021 Author Subscriber Share Posted October 9, 2021 INC(RED)IBLE news for the fight against global health emergencies! The Global Fund joins Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and Unitaid in welcoming the World Health Organization (WHO)’s recommendation for wider use of the world’s first malaria vaccine. The vaccine will be a complimentary tool for malaria prevention alongside insecticide-treated mosquito nets, indoor spraying, malaria chemoprevention, and testing and treatment. "We welcome this new tool in the fight against malaria. In countries where the Global Fund invests, we have reduced malaria deaths by 45% since 2002 with testing, treatment and prevention tools such as mosquito nets. In the vaccine pilots, the vaccine was most effective when used together with these existing tools.” – Peter Sands, Executive Director of the Global Fund https://www.theglobalfund.org/en/news/2021-10-06-gavi-unitaid-and-the-global-fund-welcome-who-recommendation-for-worlds-first-malaria-vaccine/
