Presale SEATS not resellable?

Recommended Posts

Wow.  I thought I'd heard it all this time around, but apparently fans can't even resell SEATS if bought in the presale.  This causes huge problems, as many fans bought iffy seats originally in the presale, but then later landed GA or whatever, but are now stuck with their seats??  Yuck.  Is this really true?  I had thought early reports of this were maybe because the public onsales hadn't started, but apparently folks with presale seats STILL can't resell their seats, even after the public onsale??  WTF?  Has anyone (with seats) tried hitting the "sell" button?  You should get a code which you can then input.  Before public onsale, one would then get a "you can't do this" response--which I thought would change once the public onsale began.  Why else even have a "sell" button show up in the first place for those tix?

I wonder if that will change after the second show's presales and general public sales are all done and some time has passed?  It doesn't make sense otherwise.  I can understand your frustration.  I can only imagine how many others will have done the same or will want to sell their tickets no matter.  There seems to be a lot of confusion around these shows.  Have you tried calling TM's customer service?  They probably won't know right now either but they might.  I'm hoping to buy one ticket for the second show in Chicago but cannot for a while.

I tried clicking "sell" and entered the code. I cannot sell at this time for the Santa Clara show. This is a bunch of crap because I was able to get 2 Red Zone tickets during the general public on sale, and therefore need to unload the others now. It makes no sense for fan club members to have to settle for worse seats during pre-sale (and cannot re-sell), while scalpers can get the best seats during normal sale (and can re-sell!). I just also read up on some site that to get around credit card entry they can use gift card credit cards to purchase the tickets? Not sure if that is true but what a joke if so.

This is the exact situation I am in.  I couldn't get Red Zone during presale, so I got best available.  During the public sale, I got the Red Zone tickets.  Now I need to unload 4 tickets I purchased during the presale.  I have called TM, emailed TM, emailed u2.com - so far no luck.  I am not trying to scalp these tickets - I just want to be able to let other U2 fans have the opportunity to purchase these tickets at the price I paid for them.  The TM person I spoke to suggested that I sell my tickets to someone (outside of the TM website) and have them meet me at the concert... easier said than done.

Yeah, that's a safe thing to do.  Meet a stranger at a corner with a thousand dollars in tickets!   I hope you don't mind but I'm laughing at the absolute stupidity of that suggestion.  If TM does not get back to you then I suggest bitching.  That's whey they reply the quickest to me.  It's true and now I'm laughing at myself.  Is that okay?  :)

Perhaps after the second show sells they will change that.  I say meet them on a corner in the darkest recesses possible, have it be a friend, get robbed and sue Ticketmaster!!!

( I am joking )   JOKE    Ludicrous is my favorite word to use with TM.  Who is it, though?  Most of the people I speak with are very nice and helpful.  Then one gets connected with a supervisor only to hear they are not available.   OR  I get the dreaded dial tone.

I hope it changes after all the shows go on sale is what I was going to say.  Excuse me.

I'm considering just trying to find someone on this forum to sell to, but most people here probably already have tickets! Although a lot have said they couldn't get them. I would definitely not sell at the event, but ahead of time, no matter how it goes down. Walking someone in could be annoying, but then again, maybe we'll make new friends (who we already have something in common with - fellow U2 fans). I wonder if it is against the forum rules though.

On the one hand, I think this measure goes a long way towards eliminating scalpers joining the fan club just to buy tickets for resale (knowing will easily make back the $50 subscription fee).

On the other hand, considering that somebody (LiveNation? TM? FanFire?) made the decision to hold-back some of the best presale seats are release them at random times during the presale period, this measure is another way that paying Fan Club members are screwed.

Think on this: tickets available on the Blue Jays SSH presale were far better than what was available on the FanClub presale at the same time (excluding GA, which weren't available for the SSH presale.) And the SSH presale tickets were immediately available as e-tickets once payment was processed. No CC entry for tickets bought during the SSH presale in the EXACT SAME section where seats bought during the U2.com presale are located and are CC entry.

This is the exact situation I'm facing. I bought seats today in the Wires presale and then saw GA and was able to get those. I thought I was safe because I thought I could sell the seats. ANYWAY, I don't even have a "sell" option showing for any of the Presale tickets.

I wish there had been a noticeable warning prior to purchase informing me that I wouldn't be able to resell them. I'm also kicking myself for not reading thru everything on the U2.com website where the policy is mentioned. I do think the policy should have been more visible and fault TM for not being more forthcoming.

At least there is the option of requesting a refund within 3 days of purchasing the tickets!

Maybe I'm missing something, but if presale tickets are not eligible for resale through TM, how come there were hundreds of tickets available on TM's own resale site a mere 10 minutes after the presale opened?

I don't want to jump to the conclusion that TM have provided a specialist resale route for scalpers that is not available to 'normal' ticket purchasers. But I'm struggling to think of any other explanation.

If this is the case, might TM actually be behaving illegally here? Or am I missing a more innocent explanation?
