Presale SEATS not resellable?

Maybe I'm missing something, but if presale tickets are not eligible for resale through TM, how come there were hundreds of tickets available on TM's own resale site a mere 10 minutes after the presale opened?

I don't want to jump to the conclusion that TM have provided a specialist resale route for scalpers that is not available to 'normal' ticket purchasers. But I'm struggling to think of any other explanation.

If this is the case, might TM actually be behaving illegally here? Or am I missing a more innocent explanation?

TicketMaster OWNS a couple of ticket reselling sites.  They hold back the best tickets from presale and general sales, and scalp them on their own reselling sites at 3-5 times face value.  They don't want you selling yours because that's competition for them.  Not hard to figure out, at least in the US.  Probably the same in Europe although laws over there are more friendly to people than to corporations.

Every page said that credit card entry tickets were not transferrable. The tickets being sold (seats further away, tickets sold through venue pre-sales to people with season passes to sports events, etc.) are not credit card entry tickets, so those people can sell theirs.

I tried clicking "sell" and entered the code. I cannot sell at this time for the Santa Clara show. This is a bunch of crap because I was able to get 2 Red Zone tickets during the general public on sale, and therefore need to unload the others now. It makes no sense for fan club members to have to settle for worse seats during pre-sale (and cannot re-sell), while scalpers can get the best seats during normal sale (and can re-sell!). I just also read up on some site that to get around credit card entry they can use gift card credit cards to purchase the tickets? Not sure if that is true but what a joke if so.

This is the exact situation I am in.  I couldn't get Red Zone during presale, so I got best available.  During the public sale, I got the Red Zone tickets.  Now I need to unload 4 tickets I purchased during the presale.  I have called TM, emailed TM, emailed u2.com - so far no luck.  I am not trying to scalp these tickets - I just want to be able to let other U2 fans have the opportunity to purchase these tickets at the price I paid for them.  The TM person I spoke to suggested that I sell my tickets to someone (outside of the TM website) and have them meet me at the concert... easier said than done.

Yeah, that's a safe thing to do.  Meet a stranger at a corner with a thousand dollars in tickets!   I hope you don't mind but I'm laughing at the absolute stupidity of that suggestion.  If TM does not get back to you then I suggest bitching.  That's whey they reply the quickest to me.  It's true and now I'm laughing at myself.  Is that okay?  :)

Perhaps after the second show sells they will change that.  I say meet them on a corner in the darkest recesses possible, have it be a friend, get robbed and sue Ticketmaster!!!

( I am joking )   JOKE    Ludicrous is my favorite word to use with TM.  Who is it, though?  Most of the people I speak with are very nice and helpful.  Then one gets connected with a supervisor only to hear they are not available.   OR  I get the dreaded dial tone.

I hope it changes after all the shows go on sale is what I was going to say.  Excuse me.

Trust me, I laughed myself.  At this moment I am not too pissed off over being stuck with an extra $1252 worth of tickets because:

1) I should have paid closer attention to all of the "tickets are not transferrable" warnings.

2) I have 6 months to find a solution.

3) I don't give up that easily.

4) I got Red Zone tickets!

At least there is the option of requesting a refund within 3 days of purchasing the tickets!

However, the pre-sale took place 5 to 6 days prior to the public sale.  Couldn't cancel the pre-sale tickets without knowing better tickets would be available during the public sale.

Very true, James. The cancellation policy isn't generous at all. It should extend into the public sale so presale tickets can be returned, especially for huge acts like U2 where there's little chance the returned tickets won't be resold.

In my case, it does help though, as I purchased tickets in a public sale for one venue and then purchased Presale tickets for one of the added venues.

It's not that pre-sale tickets aren't transferrable. It's that tickets in specific locations, i.e. general admission, we're not transferrable.

This isn't about TM trying to screw you or running a scam.

Try reading the fine print next time

Try not panicking and buying the first thing that pops up.

Try being patient. These are stadium shows and there are always lots of seats to he had at face value. And I bet at below face value by the day or week of the show.

Nope--it looks like ALL presale sales aren't transferrable, not just GA.

Oh to be so lucky to have such a choice of tickets

Some people never got near a ticket on the presale

Reap the rewards of greed

The thing is that we really want to get great seats, so much so that the anxiety clouds the facts and our judgment at times. But really, I will jump through hoops if necessary to obtain great seats to U2 concerts. It's just a shame that the fans are the ones made to do so. I am fortunate that I was able to afford and acquire Red Zone tickets this time around, but not until I had already anxiously bought others that were ok, in fear of not being able to get any, or having to buy them for way over face value. I'll find a use for my extra tickets, but it would be nice if I had a "legitimate" re-sale option (if you want to call Ticketmaster that), other than friends and family.

Just very angry with the manner the sale was conducted but it would have been nice to have got an affordable ticket

maybe my  ''Reap the rewards of greed'' may have been hasty but not being able to buy tickets because others are buying up everything 'just in case' then trying to offload what is surplus is just wrong in my book.

Thought the pre sale was there to enable fans to buy tickets but not at the expense of others, who were denied the same chance due to people snapping uf everything in their baskets

When I read of Red Hill group buying tickets during their own pre sale, them coming back for a 2nd bite of the cherry when the Wire group tried to get tickets.
