Citi card holders had the limit of 4 tickets per show. There are people on this thread who got 2 tix on U2.com presale THEN another 4 through Citi. While others in the paid group got 0 tickets.

If U2 inc. were serious about getting tickets into the hands of their die-hard fans then I suggest making a deal with a sponsor (it could  be CostCo - makes no difference) which results in access to tickets which is BETTER than people who have been paying into their fanclub for decades - in some cases - is not the best way to do so.

You need to re-read my post more closely and appreciate that it’s directed at the inequity of Innocence members who just signed up getting codes at the expense long timer like me who got no code.  Lapses happen.  

And, fwiw, a lot of long time fans are friends with each other.  They share their tickets with each other.   “I’ll get two for this show and you get two for that show and we’ll trade one-for-one afterwards.”  Otherwise, how would you explain so many of those fans having GAs for shows whose presales started at the same time and day?  

The resale sites are full of speculative ticket listings.  Google it.  Ticketmaster has a page on it as well.  The secondary market listings always grow exponentially after the second group presales occur as well.  

Look, people got screwed and it would have taken little effort to check someone’s renewal history to make sure long timers got codes.

I’m not at all suggesting that other presales should be a better route than paid subscribers. I absolutely believe that paid subscribers should get presale advantage and even agree with the rule that puts people in day 2 group if their membership lapses.

But let’s assume for the sake of discussion that there were no glitches and every paid subscriber got their access code. By making the limit 2 tickets, twice as many fans would have had the opportunity to buy during the presale. That was my main point. (And was huge for the fans who were able to get their first choice tix for the first time.)

The problem is that there were glitches and, as you pointed out, means that some people had access to up to 6 tickets while some members had access to none. I hope those who were left out are able to get things resolved for the next presale wave and I’m in favor of giving them a head start of 10 or 15 minutes. But even not, all of us who used our code are no longer going to in the race  

But still assuming that the intention was for all diehard fans to have access  to tickets during day 1 and 2, citi cardholder access was day 3 and 4. After the diehard fans. So I’m not upset that their deal was for ticket card members to have access after fans. It probably would have been more fair to make their limit 2 tix also though. 

My point is simply fans first in line without glitches and then U2 and LiveNation Should make whatever deal necessary that supports the business venture of putting on concerts.

To be eligible for the ticket drop you have to walk clockwise around a Joshua tree seven times at midnight under a full moon with a Citibank credit card clenched between your buttocks.

What I would like to have seen is a longer period of U2 Paid Subscribers--say 2 weeks--and then maybe something for Citi/Costco/whatever and then opening it up to the general public. A longer period would give everyone (subscribers, U2.com, TM, etc.) time to resolve any issues that would likely arise. Tickets go on sale six months before the tour, so surely allowing a little more time for the people (i.e. loyal, diehard fans) that paid for the privilege to get first crack at tour tickets the chance to get them, before letting in the masses.

I admit I know nothing about the nuts & bolts of this process, so maybe someone who does might chime in. But it seems to me that time is the most important element here and giving everyone a little more would go a long way in improving a poor system.

For those who were fortunate enough not to experience snafus during this whole ordeal, two bits of news to pass on.

I got two different messages from Ticketmaster today - one to redeem the offer to receive a copy of the new SoE CD, and a second to say that my ticket for one of the shows was already printed and is being mailed imminently.

So, if you ordered without difficulty, check your email - if you were curious, the arena that told me about my ticket status was for the Newark show on June 29th.

I did both nights in '15, but we had Reserved Seats. Was right outside the ellipse (i.e. Bomb Shelter) at the 4:00 position and Bono set up his drum right in front of us during Vertigo '05. Watching him bang on it like a jungle savage during (Love & Peace, I think) was an awesome thing. Got lucky and did get Larry and Adam to sign my ticket during Elevation '01 before the show. All these shows were at the Shark Tank (it's changed names so many time).

Anyway, keepin' the faith, bro. Keepin' the faith.
