It's a interesting, albeit really sad thought. Undeniable that they are significantly closer to the end than the start. No doubting that. But what a ride....  It is probably why I haven't entirely

Disclaimer: I believe U2 is greatest band in the world.  I haven't seen or heard a better band in my lifetime and I don't think I ever will.  Also, I'm a paying fan club member and own almost everythi

I felt like there was a better chance 10 years ago, rather than now.  If they were hanging them up, they wouldn't' have tried to get this last album and tour out in back-back-back years.  They also ha

That is a very good point.  I can't think of another band where all of this is true.  It's got a be addictive to play and have all of us going nuts and singing and jumping and dancing.  Perhaps the question should be how long can we do that?  haha

Depeche mode are close to it in there own right maybe not as media fronted thou as far as being on top and making albums depeche have a massive fan base all over Europe and America and are still going strong.

Beatles: stopped touring in 1966, split in 1970

You probably know this, however; the Beatles were forced to stop touring because they could not hear themselves play due to all the screaming girls.  I'm still amazed how good they sounded playing on the rooftop for Let it Be.  They sounded great.

MetallicA. a band that stuck together through the loss of a friend & band mate Cliff Burton RIP (1962-1986) a band that Bono acknowledges are way better than U2 in everyway heh.gif.e0dfb842c92528d46fb88c54c26e36f5.gif

I would love to go see them live.  I could not when they were in Chicago last.  Depeche Mode and The Cure are the two huge eighties bands I still want to see live.

 Charlie Watts is astonishing.

I heard Mick Jagger speak of them timing Charlie to a metronome and that he was perfect.  They were all astounded how truly great he was.

God ,this is a thoroughly depressing epitaph of a thread...The lads aren't even halfway through a tour and they've been retired ,split up and carted off to the rest home for the mega rich. Music is in their blood ,and Live music is their heartbeat.

In a few months time I go to see a 74 year old Roger Waters in the Point Depot ,a 74 year old that is still writing , and creates tours to match U2 ,there is nothing preventing U2 doing the same .Lets face it ,with their back catalogue they'll never be short of material.personally I look forward to the Joshua Tree 50  ,just hope to hell I can get 4 GA's for the Croke park gigs

I agree the stadium tour was supposed to be I@E not Joshua but circumstance , not just Trump took over , Adams baby , Bono's health and so on .....

That is interesting.  I had never heard of this.  I never conceived IE being a stadium tour.  I thought it was meant for indoors.  Thanks for posting and to the original poster as well.  Very interesting to try to conceive IE in a stadium.  Would the screen have been bigger?  If so, how would it have worked with them getting inside?  Would their images have been magnified?  Sure must be fun to design that stuff; lots of headaches and worries but seeing it all come off as well as they do must be an incredible feeling.
