Subscriber hillpy2 72 Posted December 4, 2020 Subscriber Share Posted December 4, 2020 (edited) I gotta say, the last line of “I Believe in Father Christmas,” can be a bit of an undeserved bummer to some people. Some people don’t end up with lovely, wonderful feelings on Christmas and it’s through no fault of their own. Other than that, it’s a fantastic song.✌♥️✝️ Edited December 4, 2020 by hillpy2

I always loved his version of the song, so when U2 did it, it just made it even more special for me.

The first time I heard this song, I felt the same. Our hearts leap at the thought of father Christmas, only to realize it's not so. The we get what we deserve part of that line reminds me that Christmas is what is in my heart. With U2 doing this song, it becomes (for me) innocence (believing) to experienced (realizing it's a lie) and then back to the innocence of my own inner-child's heart, in the need to find the meaning of Christmas. 💙 Edited December 6, 2020 by Manohlive
