Nope... it would be more of a matter with whoever has the movie rights...

That's what I was thinking, based on past comments, but was not certain.

Let's buy the rights and release it ourselves!   🤑

the production company is 3ality Digital Entertainment... but the distribution is not centralized in just one company (check IMDB for the whole rosary)... also, this is something so big that it's talking in millions ($) and several stacks of paperwork... bottom line, it's not that easy as just "let's buy the rights"...

Probably the easier, cheaper and quicker avenue to explore is what Mich suggested earlier...

thanks, thing is, it's a 3D IMAX, and U2 will only show it in a 3D IMAX theatre...

A small correction here - they did have a version for regular theaters as well. The first time I saw it, it was in an IMAX theater; however, the second time I saw it was in a regular theater.

So, both options exist, FWIW.

I have pinned it for you. But you may also want to consider other routes too. You may want to consider contacting Fathom Events. They tend to do re-releases of movies and host a lot of concert movies all over the country, but keep in mind that there are many theaters that have not reopened due to the pandemic yet.
Another option might be one centralized location and look into renting the film at a movie theater.

I would be all for this and support/lend effort/add my name/whatever is necessary.  I'd love to see Vertigo in 3D again.    It was thrilling.

The distribution and screening doesn't depend on the band... they may have a say, but it's not the only word on it.

I think U2 own it...which is why it was never released on home dvd/3d blu-ray

I don't think it's that simple. There have been several posts about this, in past years.   I'm no expert.  The consensus has been that someone else owns the rights (or enough of them) to wield influence.  Remember this is a movie which was released in theaters, not a concert film on DVD or BluRay.
